Well the important part is that it wouldn't be a majority of the community but just a majority of the part of the community that decided to vote.  Regardless of that and assuming that voting would show an accurate measure of what the whole community feels I'd still have to disagree with the concept.

Part of being a moderator on a forum is being dislikd if you actually do the job.  People don't like when the rules are upheld against them and I think you'd see most of the moderators voted out everytime or the moderators would be too afraid to do anything acgually meaningful because it might make them unpopular.  It'd be an interesting experiment to see how people would vote in that scenario but I can't see it being beneficial.  Moderators have to be upheld to standards, but that can only be done by the head mod.  He sets the standards and he decides how far he's willing to go to uphold them.  I suppose one could vote ini and out the head mod and that would allow for larger changes to how things are moderated without crippling every individual moderator, but I doubt even that would work.

The moderators do well in the "Greatest User" tournaments.  I think mods that are good at the job would also do well in a moderator vote.  I think it would be an interesting experiment.

Cage matches would be cooler. Fox only, no items, final destination.

eally? fox, gtfo. it should be manoamano wario vs wario

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I implore the mod team to take better care of Conegamer. He tends to pull the trigger quickly and it seems like all that power is getting to his head. The mod team is not going to achieve any sort of consistency when there's one guy that is overly pedantic. Unleashing the dog will eventually bite all of you in the butt.

How so? I made a mistake yesterday, sure, but mistakes do happen (sadly). At least when I noticed the error I quickly fixed it to minimalize disturbance.

eh? What is Conegamer supposed to have done this time?

He told me things that I already know, plus he ignored that I was already talking to another mod.

And, of course, there's that three day ban I got yesterday.

EDIT: Also, the BasilZero vs. Faxanadu incident from last week. Plus the Classicgamingwizzz vs. outlawauron incident from two months ago.

Conegamer is bloodthirsty. Don't let the dog run loose.

I already apologized for the ban yesterday; that was my error. Similarly the other discussion was off-topic and against the rules. Pedantic? Maybe, but people have been moderated for it before and in a thread of that size bringing it up is only going to cause trouble needlessly. We were discussing it infact and the ban has indeed been dropped to 1 day.

The other incidents have been discussed before at length here, with other moderators, with the parties involved etc. and I have no interest to go back into them.

Talking to the one moderator who was actually there during the whole Robben discussion wasn't going to cause trouble. starcraft might have handled the moderation, but Carl was the person who was most familiar with the context. There is a significant difference between randomly complaining about a moderation in a random thread and talking straight to a mod. Yes, it was not the official route, but it was the quickest and most efficient.

We don't need to discuss the other incidents, because the only point here is that you are overly pedantic at times (Basil and Fax, just now telling me to post in this thread when the issue was already resolved anyway) and at other times you jump the gun (Classic and outlaw, my ban yesterday). But it's not that serious anyway, only half-serious. If you choose to be pedantic, I can be it too. Hence why I posted here.

Yeah that's not a problem. Perhaps I did get a little bit overenthusiastic about the whole Kirby thing in the World Cup thread, but it's one of those things that I didn't want to spiral out of control, even if in the first place it could/should have been achieved via a PM or post here (which you have done several times before). I agree with shortening the ban though; things get heated in a sports thread like that and given the context some leniancy needs to be accounted for (which there's already been in the thread) .

Still, you got the attention of Carl pretty quickly and it was resolved and edited, which was the aim, so I suppose it all worked out in the end.

Why was kirby banned, i was lurking the discussion in the thread and didnt saw nothing ban worthy :S

He resorted to personal insults (calling kowenicki "dense"), despite several warnings in the thread to keep the personal stuff out of it.

Edit - Post

If someone posts an article , a shit one, and someone in a reply calls "arrogant brandfanboy" to the person that wrote the article can he get banned?

No reason to call anyone a fanboy; particularly if their entire post is just centering around the "fanboy" part.

Say, if the user just commented saying that and just that it'd be treated as just flaming and trying to cause an argument. If you were to follow that up with why you disagree with the article in question, and why the article writer was wrong, perhaps it would be treated more kindly rather than calling another user on the site a fanboy (which is near always, if not always, a moderatable offence in my eyes). Just posting the insult to the article writer isn't gonna help much.

Again, context is key as usual. But the answer is if it fulfills the criteria I mentioned above then yes, probably.

To the writer of the article, from another site?

I wouldnt moderate them. If they called the person who posted it on the forums an arrogant brandfanboy though, then I would moderate.

Just an update.

A problem has been fixed. From now, the linked post in the ban reason on a users wall will work again.
