Very true, I'll go one step further and say you cant even give SE credit for those good games in the west, at least not fully as thsoe were made by studios that they just simply bought. Which is even more baffling that they cant get their eastern devs heads out of their asses. Why make their japanese properties more western?? What was the point in even buying Eidos then?

RIP FF. Versus13 once had all the promise in the world, but now I want a swift death from it. The game tires me. There idiocy is shown because the game is supposed to be out already. No one shows a trailer 6 years before a games to be released. On to good news from Japan.. I can't wait till MGS:Ground Zeroes comes out! Looks so good.. Looks better than v13 ever did graphically and it will be out before it! AND OMG, we actually seen gameplay! |
To be fair, there portable output has been pretty decent to good. TWEWY, KHs, Dissidia, Crisis Core, the remakes its just they are sucking hard on the consoles and i agree with everything you said.

I disagree, FF12 was a solid game so in the past 6 years they have been terrible ie: since FF13 was announced.

As much as I would love Nomura to lead FF I don't want him to be distracted from the KH series which currently I believe is stronger than the FF series (although I actually liked FFXIII and FFXIII-2, not that they were as good as the earlier ones).

Tetsuya Nomura was probably the best thing to happen to Final Fantasy in a long time. His character designs are iconic and resonate with RPG fans. Also, many fail to realize his influence throughout the series history. He first officially came on in FFVI as battle designer or something. Then character designer in VII-X.
Yet what his job title doesn't say is that he has a hand in some of the most key plot points in FFs. Sakaguchi originally wanted to make FFVII a long flashback sequence(like FFX) but it was Nomura is convinced the panel to scrap that idea and go for the chase approach(following Sephiroth's journey). While he takes direction from the lead designers, the lead designers also take cues from his artwork. This has all been revealed in past interviews. This is one of the main reasons every game he touches seems to turn to gold (KH, FFVII, FFVIII, FFX, TWEWY, CCFFVII, Advent Children).
Has anyone else realized that SE uses him almost like the official mouth piece of the company now as well? Especially when they want to deliver bad news, if Nomura does it it comes off a bit easier. When Wada does it I want to rip his head off. I feel this is similar to Konami forcing Kojima to reveal MGRising for 360 at that E3, looked like Kojima wanted to jump off a cliff but it felt more appropriate coming from him than from the corporate machine.
PS. I am also very much looking forward to the behind the scenes development videos for FF Versus XIII, I think that might just be the most interesting movie yet from SE :/
