Wii U is the following

• Wii HD still supporting your Wii Motion Plus + Nunchuk and other Wii Accessories like Wii Balance Board (you will be able to transfer all your Virtual Console stuff and Wii Ware stuff from your Wii to your Wii U as well)
• X360 / PS3 like controller in the Pro Controller (without screen) to easily take all 3rd party ports make for the "core" market even if they choose not to do anything with the Wii U Gamepad
• Asymetric gaming using Wii U Gamepad for 1-2 players and rest using Wii Motion Plus or Pro Controllers. This is an extension of the "connectivity" ideas Nintendo experimented with when they did Gamecube + GBA as the controller.
• A social network for Games (MiiVerse) - Mark my words... this will be a hugely appealing feature of the console. Unlike the Playstation Home, it is an integral part of the console and not some separate application.
• Tablet + Pro Controller Hybrid controller for wide range of new game ideas. Have you seen videos of ZombiU? Rayman Legends? etc?
• Nintendo franshises finally in freaking HD
• Best system launch window software support in the history of video game consoles. No console has ever launched with wide range of games in distinct key genre's like Assassin's Creed III and Rayman Legends and Mario and Batman and Mass Effect and Darksiders and Ninja Gaiden and Pikmin and ZombiU and Lego City Undercover, and... you get the idea... its a long list

In short... if you liked the Wii, you would be crazy to ignore the Wii U cause the Wii was a really shallow proposal with a really short shelf life and really poor game support.

The amount of shit Pachter flings in Nintendos direction this time is unprecedented. Since Pachter is always wrong about Nintendo, Wii U might become the most successful console ever.

Somebody should make a comprehensive Thread about Pachters Nintendo statements over the years and how they turned out. Should be really interesting.

I do not understand. Why do you keep posting news from Patcher and why do people keep debating it? He talks out of his rectum. He make his living by bashing Nintendo and making ridiculous claims.

Trying to argue info from Patcher is just beating a dead horse. Its is based on nothing and arguments based on it will, likewise, go nowhere.

He comments are the epitome or flame bait. It puts food on his table.

I could debunk his comments all day. Anyone could. What will it get us at the end of the day? More attention and fame for him.

Hmmm, it won't fail, it probably just won't do as well as the wii, and it's success is likely to be more reliant on core rather than casual gamers. There will always be a large sector of core gamers that buy Nintendo simply because of the games produced by Nintendo.

The last time I've seen Pachter being so jiggly and happy was E3 2010 when Nintendo had probably the best press con they ever had. Metroid, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Goldeneye, Kid Icarus, 3DS....Pachter loved the press con so much. Watch the 2012 E3 Bonus Round and you'll see how super happy he was.

I've found that whenever Pachter makes one of his predictions, especially Nintendo related (Nintendo needed to release a Wii HD about 3 years ago, the 3DS is doomed, etc) and then these predictions turn out to be the exact opposite, he always doubles down with more over the top rhetoric.

This is the same guy who said at the end of last year that the PSVita's first 3 months of sales would top the 3DS's first 3 months of sales, and that despite the almost year-long head start by the 3DS, the PSV would eventually outshine it.

"This hate comes from them wanting Ninty to admit the Wii was a mistake so they can feel better at night. The problem is their favorite console makers have already admitted to mistakes with their current platforms by copying the Wiis casual appeal, so in the end it doesnt matter if Ninty is targeting the core, since the others are targeting the casual all of a sudden."

A lot of gamers would have liked if the Wii had fallen flat on its face and that Sony and MS were right in thinking that videogames are just all about 'better graphics'. But Nintendo had an idea that (1) there is a bigger market of gamers out there that don't necessaritly need 'better graphics, and (2) gaming innovation doesn't always have to be in the software, but could be in the way you controll the game. I rememebr many years ago when everyone laughed at Nintendo and the name Wii, but Nintendo showed what believing in an idea can do, epscially when you put your best behind it.

Now people hate Nintendo for being right, lol. Now everyone believes in casual gaming, Sony believes, MS, and even Apple believes. Casual gaming I don't think was even a term before this last generation. And here we go again with people doubting Nintendo and its ideas once again. Nintendo created a whole new category of gamers and still Ninty gets no respect, lol.
