I agree that gloss isn't the way to go with handhelds (the original 3DS got dirty way too easily, as opposed to the nice matte finish on the XL), but I don't mind gloss on my consoles.

I like to rearrange my entertainment systems a lot so I constantly grab, also I have lots of company over and we all play different games all the time so the constant switching and cleaning would be an issue for me.

I believe these are dev kits and that's a special linkage cord. Not part of retail.

Agreed, Smeags.  In fact, I like the glossy look for the black WiiU.  Looks great.
