Forums - Gaming - Which console has the best lineup for the 1st half of 2008 in your opinion?

@carlos710

I highly recommend that you use the profile function, and ascertain the answer for yourself. Strangely he seems to not show a consistent trolling inclination. Thus is probably actually another human being.

IMO the wii will have the highest selling games but not the best games IMO. I would add more games to the list but every thing else looks like shovelware.
SSBB, Mario Kart, Wii fit, Okami (multi), Destoy all humans : Big Willy Unleashed, No more heros, Bully (multi), House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return,

PS3 will have the deeper amount of high quality games. Burnout paradice (Multi), DMC4 (Multi), MGS4, GTA4, Destroy all humans : Path of the Furon, Army of 2 (Multi), Eternal Sonata (Multi), Rainbow 6 vegas (Multi), HSG4, Haze, Metal Gear Online, Socom, Dark Sector (Multi), GT Prologue, Battle Field bad company (multi)

For the 360 you get most of the mentioned multi games and Lost oddessy, Splinter cell conviction, and problably the best game of the year on 360 for 08 Left 4 dead.

its unfare to compare lifetime between gta4 and brawl because brawl will be the only ssb on the wii while we will probably see two mor gta on the ps3/360

i can't believe some people thinks SSBB outsell GTA4 worldwide

i mean GTA: SA sold 18 million alone on PS2 and also it's the highest selling game of last gen

GTA:SA sold 15 million with an install base of 120 million.  An attach rate of .125

SSBM sold 6.5 million with an install base of 22 million.  An attach rate of .295

So it is not much of a stretch to say that SSBB will outsell GTA4 (both versions) for lifetime sales if the Wii install base stays in the mid 40%.

I dunno. Out of the few games that we know are releasing in the first half of '08, I want MGS4 first, then SSBB, with Mario Kart a little behind that. So, MGS4 is my most anticipated game, but Nintendo's line up overall is more favorable to me.

However, in general I'd have to say that the ps3's line up is superior to the Wii's. MGS4, GTAIV, DMC4, etc. will boost sales more than SSBB and MK, imo. Not that Nintendo's sales need to be boosted...

As for the 360, it comes in last, as most of it's games aside from Lost Oddyssey will be multiplat.

"So it is not much of a stretch to say that SSBB will outsell GTA4 (both versions) f"

Bah if you take a close look at attachment rates you will see that the 10 good Gamecube games (all Nintendo) (yes I am exaggerating) all have a huge attachment rate. Much higher than anything on the PS2.

There are two reasons:

1) The percentage of hardcore (Nintendo/Sega/Sony/Microsoft) fans is much higher for the loosing system
2) If there is nothing to play the remaining good games will be bought by a higher percentage.

For the same reason I bought Heavenly Sword last year , a game I would have bought as Budget title in the future if there had been anything to play for the PS3.

This gen the situation is reversed. The Wii has a broad userbase with lots of casual players and it has the biggest marketshare. So extrapolating from Gamecube marketshare is pretty much the worst thing you can do.

And damn I have sworn to myself that I wouldn't start with this "Let's make a prognosis based on past numbers and some wild guesses"-thing everyone does here.

But my 2Cents: Smash doesn't stand a chance. I didn't even know it before coming to this forum because I never had a Nintendo console. Everyone knows Mario but Smash Brothers sounds to me as if it will be adored by old-time Nintendo fans but ignored by the new gamers. But I wouldn't dare to package this as analysis

Just like 2007 - the Wii will have the best selling titles (worldwide), the most titles and the biggest spread of titles.

It will not have the best "hardcore" gaming titles (unless you consider Brawl "hardcore"?), and it will have heaps more shovelware than the other consoles.

...

PS - I don't think Brawl has a chance to outsell both GTA titles (lifetime) - but who knows... maybe GTA4 won't take off, and maybe Brawl will. If it manages to keep the same sort of attach ratio that its predecessor did on the GC... maybe?

Gesta Non Verba

Nocturnal is helping companies get cheaper game ratings in Australia:

Game Assessment website

Wii code: 2263 4706 2910 1099

1. PS3 (GTA4+)
2. 360 (GTA4)
3. Wii (No GTA4... but NMH looks pretty cool)

SSBB will not outsell GTA4 first month, first year or lifetime. Comparing attach rates tells you absolutely nothing. GTA is a much more popular franchise and a much better game (they will both score highly in reviews).

@ shams

I don't think anyone considers SSBB "hardcore". People like it because anyone can play and have a chance of winning. Tekken or Soul Calibur it ain't.

What you said to Shams about brawl not being "hardcore" was kind of dumb.

Your final sentence was "Played_Out"!!!!!!!!

Damn things have changed since 2009 began. Here are my new visions for the end of the generation.

Wii: 135 mil

Ps3: 85 mil

360: 60 mil

True Genius

The Wii will be the best, like normal.
Think at Wii Fit, No More Heroes, Super Smash Brawl, Metroid 3 (Japan), Mario Kart, Battalion Wars,...

Wii Fit is rapidly beating PS3...

Playing now: Apollo Justice, Majora's Mask

Going to play: Little King Story

"As long as there is a Triforce, there will be a Zelda  As long as there is a prosperous kingdom, there will be an evil that wants destroy it And as long as there is an oppressive force running Hyrule, there will be a boy, in a green tunic, with a silver shield, and a magic blade, to stand against them."-The Legend of Zelda
