Those are some bloody awesome figures!

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!

Good for Nintendo, depending on prices and software I may go with Nintendo next generation.

From Nintendo Platforms?

Who cares, at first I thought they were intimating it was stuff all made by Nintendo.

There's only 3 manufacturers, and Microsoft has always been absent, and well... PS Vita is doing awful.

So really, it's a country with only 3 platforms... two of which are Nintendo based ones.

70% is just barely over the 66% you'd assume anyway, not counting the very marginal figures for other systems.

4 platforms... the PSP is still going. (DS & PS2 are too but if you are discounting the X360 for selling bad then may as well discount them... either way though Nintendo and Sony have the same number of systems even if you take out Vita)

Your argument is actually similar to what I said earlier in the thread though... 360 and DS (and PS2) are essentially dead as far as marketshare sway goes... while Wii, PS3, PSP and Vita are all selling like second place platforms. So Nintendo wins by default in a way because they have the leading handheld.

One of the reasons Vita is doing awful is because 3DS is doing good. Or you think without the 3DS the portable market in japan would just collape to 10k per week? So it's not without merits by any means that Nintendo reached that %

10K... no?

However, I actually think if the 3DS market wasn't strong in japan most people would be buying more DS games.

I think the Vita is just an unappealing product to non "super-core" gamers.  At least it is at the price.

PS Vita to me seems like the Atari Lynx or something.

I agree with posters like carlos3189. No one in Japan cares about Sony in gaming anymore. Not even America. Sony's lack of innovation combined with overpriced hardware has forced Japan & America to act. They spoke with their wallets & have chosen Nintendo.

The only reason why PS3 & PSP were relevant & still alive in Japan (& PS3 in America & Europe) was because of the big success off of the PS2 & Monster Hunter (which is the main reason why PSP was still alive in Japan in the first place where the handheld was dying off everywhere else).

I have a feeling that things are going to be more tougher for Sony with Vita & PS4 in both countries. Japanese 3rd party developers are gonna go towards the 3DS & Wii U more so than PS4 & Vita.

Seems about right.

Considering Nintendos mediocre success in the west:

You mean like how they only got the #1 and #2 systems this generation?

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
