Well first I pretty much gauruntee neither 720 or PS4 will be $600. That was an obvious mistake by Sony, the 360 was $299.99/$399.99 at launch, the Wii U is likely going to be $299.99 seven years later. Honestly I'd prefer not to have to buy 2-3 systems period. But I generally have to, because Nintendo simply doesn't get all of the interesting third party content most of the time and it's been that way for about 15 years now. |
And, who's fault is that? It sounds like your gripe should lie with the third party developers. Do you think that Nintendo goes up to EA Sports and says, "Hey, could you please put in no effort and release a stripped-down piece of garbage Madden title on our systems?" No. And, I've actually had people argue with me that the developers shouldn't have to develop for tech that is behind PS3/XBox 360. If that's the case, then why have they continued to support ports to the last generation PS2 WELL into this gen? Apparently the hardware isn't an issue for them to develop for in that regard. The Wii's 7 top software titles all outsell the # 1 selling game on XBox 360 or PS3. And even after you strip away the Wii Sports (pack-in/more of a demo), Wii Play (purchased for the extra controller), Wii Fit, and Wii Resort titles; Mario Kart triples and New Super Mario Bros. still doubles the #1 of PS3 (which is an Activision Call of Duty). Nintendo has proven that there were sales there for the taking of anyone who wanted to put the effort in. The line-up for Wii U shows much greater 3rd Party support, so that shouldn't be the case this coming generation.
