Forums - Gaming - Why do some people get mad when a game goes multiplat? Or they took my games!

We have entire finished areas from xiii cut, we have devs saying they didnt reuse cut content for ffxiii2 we have them also cutting out cgi and onstead going with in game cutscenes for ff13-2.
Do i really need to show you more?

@immortal your honest I'll give you that

It's not so much being honest as it is provoking a conversation from the side I'd like to argue for. Normally, people are a lot more keen about responding if I seem like a fanboy. It's not entirely untrue, anyway, :P.

It didn't work so much this time because you didn't point out specific objections to what I said so there's really nothing to argue about. Looks like you have your hands full with other arguments right now, anyway, xD.

I do actually believe my explanation is the reason why most people dislike exclusives going multiplatform and I would be very annoyed if a Sony or MS console got anything I consider a good game, though.

Show me more of what? These facts do not point to the conclusion you are making at all.

"team removed enough extra locations from the title to make up a whole other game entirely." No where does it say that did was done because it went multiplat. Since the beginning of Disc usage in games, the only purpose for having multiple discs has always been video and audio media which takes up enormous amounts of space. Simple geometry scripts and textures don't take up that much room.

You are drawing an irrevlvent conclusions

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/15/yoshinori-kitase-cut-final-fantasy-xiii-content-will-not-return/

Kitase wanted to stress his "final word" on topic, telling us, "There is no plan for these things that were cut -- because they weren't essential to the game -- to be revived as downloadable content," laughing as he remarked that he wouldn't want to add back in the stuff he didn't think should be in there in the first place. We're cool with that, as long as they didn't cut out a "Meanwhile ..." segment that just happened to be a remake of Final Fantasy VII in its entirety.

Put emphasis on "stuff he didn't think should be in there in the first place". The devs changed there mind about how they wanted the game to go. He even said FFXIII versus would be story driven just the same and that is still listed as exslusive. That is how they have been making all of their games for the past few years. It had nothing to do with it being ported to the 360.

Or do you seriously believe that Lightnings home and Snow's base took up over 7 GB of data?

http://www.siliconera.com/2010/01/13/noras-secret-base-and-lightnings-home-cut-from-final-fantasy-xiii/

These areas were running in an unreleased build of Final Fantasy XIII, but were cut from the final version due to considerations about game balance and game volume. It was a design choice, not a storage issue.

The game was intentionally made linear with few stops along the way because they wanted it to be story driven.

Okay, good. That's already some argument fodder. Why exactly do you find this kind of fanboy argument crazy to the extent of, uh, cat excretion? What's wrong with genuinely disliking other video game companies and not wanting them to get any good games?

My question would be why don't you like other video game companies? I presume it's because you believe they lack good games, correct? In which case, it wouldn't make sense to want the companies to not get good games, because not getting good games is the reason you don't like the companies. You have a problem with something, but you don't want the solution to surface. You want the problem to persist.

That's like me disliking a TV Show because it's unrealistic. But at the same time, I actively oppose the idea of the Show becoming more realistic. It makes no sense whatsoever.

@lilbroex you even bold a section that says "cut due to balance and GAME VOLUME".ie size.
Consider that we know se cut cgi for x2. Logically se are ready to cut content to fit. Sure we dont precisely have them saying they cut content out because of the 360, but we do know they are willing to cut to save space. Perhaps im just reading between the lines but non essential doesnt mean unnecessary to me, it means not crucial to the story.

I don't get mad when an exclusive goes to another platform. Though when a previous exclusive comes over to my favorite console, I'm like, yes!!. Especially if it's a game I'm interested in. Then the Resident Evil Chronicles games for PS3 happen to be digital only. Then I'm mad.

Game volume does not mean "SIZE". I have never heard the size of a game on a disc referecned as game volume as volume is an inward to outward counter.

Game volume is the volume of the content in the game. How much you have to do to get from point a  to point b. The number of areas, the number of people you talk to. If they wer talking about size then they would say game size or game storage. As he said they wanted the game to be story driven. They scaled down the volume in order to remove uncessary interuptions to the plot. That is how they make their games now.

Non essential and uncessary mean the exact same thing in the way he used them.

You skpped all of the points just to distort the ambiguity of that one statement.

Once again. Please explain what aspect of Lightning's home and Snow's Base would take up more than 7GB of data. Do you think they were bigger than the calm lands looking place and the city of Cocoon?

@immortal Jay520 pretty much said what i wanted to say better than I could, i have nothing to add
