Saddened, but not surprised.

I talked to a few Nintendo Power guys at GDC. They were downright negative of Nintendo. Was kinda surprised, since I grew up idolizing the staff at Nintendo Power. I still have about 200 issues of the magazine at my parents house. Had my entire bedroom wall plastered with about 40 posters that came in the mid-90's issues.

In late 2007, Future US took over Nintendo power (Nintendo had done all previous issues). The editions you remember as a child and the staff you remember were most likely not the same people you just spoke with.

Good thing I stopped my subscription last year lol

I used to love their posters and their cheat codes/tips section. Oh! and their Zelda, Mario, Metroid cartoons too!

What?! Wow, NP was my Bible of my childhood. Sad to see them go.

I had the first 120 issues before I stopped subscribing. This mag was very helpful during the NES and SNES days with the maps and guides laying out secrets and techniques to get past spots that made no sense. Like gamefaqs before the net.

Some good memories with that mag.  Sometimes, it felt like it wasn't even a video game mag.  It felt like a community.  Sad to see it go.  I still buy it whenever I see it at my local grocery store.  It's not as great as it used to be but I still like it.  Such is life.

Pretty sad. I haven't been subscribed for a few years, but I loved the magazine as a kid.

RIP Nintendo Power.... I was thinking about renewing subscription but never got around to it. I thought there were rumors of it going away last year (or I remember a thread about it) but I guess it is finally going to happen.

My subscription just ended and now I can't even re-subscribe. Nintendo Power got me into the action/adventure genre and I bought a lot of games I wouldn't consider buying b/c of NP. This is an end of an era, it's kinda sucks that NP shuts down right before the Wii U launches.
