No
It has to actually have a ps3 version to begin with

why would this even apply to games that does not have two versions? :S It makes absolutely no sense. I also fail to see how this is kind of bad in any way to a consumer

now you're making ME confused :P
why do you need the vita version be free to play on the ps3 if you have the ps3 version of the game already? I don't get it. If it's a multiplat release like R&C Full Frontal, then you buy the ps3 version, and you get a vita version for free. That's basically all there is to it.

The problem with Cross-Buy and Cross-Platform is that Sony is heavily investing in a market who are console owners and more specifically PS3-owners. They need to learn to expand beyond the market they're already carved and invest in those they have yet to vend for.

Talk about a useless move..... This will do nothing for Vita.
3DS's price cut at least worked. Even if we all know that the big three saved 3DS. Not the price cut.
Well imo it creates a dangerous precedent: consumers who are expecting crossbuy but third party who don't want To do it for obvious reasons.. Creating a stallmate where the consumers won't buy any version untill it is crossbuy.. The third party then have two options: make the vita version crossbuy or skip a vita version cause they only are gonna give it away.. It happend when the iPad came out.. People don't want to have to buy 2 versions but only 1 for both devices.. But unlike the Ps3 and Vita, The iPad and IPhone are waaay more the same making it easier to have an universal app which works great on any device.. Surely Sony has been watching that..
So it surprises me that Sony hasn't made any deals with 3rd parties.. If EA is gonna do it with Most Wanted people will expect they do it with FIFA and MAdden.. And we all know that aint happening..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)
It seems Sony is quick to respond to this thread, http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=146643
Maybe because I have a PC background but to me this is a no brainer. Download the title and play it on all applicable platforms. I really can't think of a way that giving consumers a fair deal is a bad thing. The biggest argument seems to be that it makes people who don't play nice with consumers look bad.
Time for hype

I don't know. From what i hear that policy does gangbusters for Valve.
Then again, thinking about it, i guess it does make a little more sense for them since there are stores and other digital distribution methods.

I love how all the "known" people are ganging up on kowenicki. Oh wait, Turkish is still missing. I hope he's alright.
That said, cross buy is bullshit. It's nothing more than a consolation prize. Why would I need cross buy when they promised me remote play? How do I manage to get all those ~4GB digital PS Vita games on my 8 GB Memory Card? How are those games free when I have to drop another 80€ to get a 32GB card to make use of this promotion? My 8GB card is already brimmed and I recently began to move games around via content manager. And boy, is that a major inconvenience. It took at least 10 minutes to get Escape Plan (~2GB) off my memory card and onto my PC. Now I CAN NOT WAIT to swap my games this way in the future. PSABR on my Vita and the urge to play Sly 4? No problem, just boot the PC up and a quick 30 minutes later the games are swapped and you are good to go! Fuck this shit. This is not how portable gaming works.
The bottom line of this post is this: The storage premium is way too high to make this promotion worthwile for anyone but the most hardcore and dedicated Sony followers.
Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.
