I am moving out of my moms the first of next month into a house with a few roomates... I'm doing it to feel independent and not have as many restrictions.I'm only moving like 2 streets over though... I am interesting in hearing other people's experiences when they moved out of their parents house. Was it better? Was it worse?

I moved out of my parents' home two years ago. It's one of the best decisions I've ever taken.

A lot of the sticky thoughts of my parents left and I was mentally free, there was alot of nagging. I feel older and more responsible, more mature. I'm in much better terms with my parents now oddly enough, and have made new and better friends. Just a lot better all around.

I moved out of my Mothers house when i was 17 and its almost been 10 years since then... its been brilliant!! I do miss living close to the parents but i see them every other month when possible and call every week

still living with them but when im in college i live with friends.

I gained like 20 pounds the first year out of the House.. Learn to cook healty... It's very tempting to eat easy fast and fat food..

I moved out two years ago because of work and school. It is better with family, only now I can bring girls into my appartment and have sex in a bed. But the food is worse the cleaning is a pain in my ass and it is mostly too quiet.

There's both benefits and negatives of the situation. Sure you can have a sense of being more independent , but living without your parents probably means that you'll have to spend more time cooking,cleaning , shopping etc. All these things are time consuming, so you'll have less free time than you might think. Also, don't let your roomates steal your food from the fridge or be lazy bums and not contribute toward the helping of your place.
