Uh GT4 looks 100x better than that race game:

These games could have been early current gen games

I see now why your one of the most ridiculed fanboys on this site.

Whether Gamecube or Xbox had better graphics can be debated, with the overall majority leaning towards xbox. But you would need a severe case of denial to argue ps2 had any games that looked better than the best of what the GCN and xbox had to offer.

And before you reply to me with obvious bullshots of ps2 games, do what selnor did and post videos so we can see what the games really looked like.

I don't take people serious who can't even spell "you're". You must be in serious denial if you think these are bullshots. Some of GT4 shots were replay shots, shows just how much you know about these games.

First off, half those are obvious bullshots, and the ones that aren't don't even look close to current gen. The best on the Xbox and Gamecube do, but not on PS2.

Look at the ugly shadows and ground texture in that up-res'd and AA'd up the wazoo bullshot of GoW2. (The PS2's best looking game)

You use me misspelling a single word as an excuse not to post any videos. That's because you know very well that the screens you posted are bullshots as can anyone with a brain.

I can only speak for the first GT4 pic as a bullshot. I saw it in EGM back in 2004 when they did an E3 preview on the game.

Just on the GT4 "bullshots" ...

One of the main reasons I dislike using simulation racing games for comparisons of processing power is they often have substantial "replay mode" functions that produce far superior images than are actually possible in game.

The best way to do screenshot comparisons is to find similar games for both systems, find similar environments for both games, and capture images using the same method. There are some challenges to this though, while gaming sites captured images from Dreamcast and PS2 games off of the RCA cable output, and some sites captured Gamecube games from progressive scan output, the XBox allowed people to take screenshots of games straight out of the image buffer which produced far cleaner images.

edit: As a general rule, if you see PS2 or Gamecube images which are crisp and clear they're usually marketing shots (that tend not to reflect the in game experience) or people who captured them off of an emulator.

I can't keep up in OP, thanks for all the screenshots, let's follow HappySqurriel's advice and try to post shots of how the graphics appear in the usual modes, not replay modes or other upscale moments (like FFX cutscene, for eg).

Also, let's try to post more vids if possible, but shots are still cool.

I only owned a Gamecube last generation so from personal experience that's the only one I can comment on. Starfox Adventures was extremely impressive graphics wise though. I was also very impressed by the Metroid Prime games. I'm sure some of you Nintendo gamers like me stopped and just looked around Phendrana Drifts at how gorgeous it was.

However looking at these screenshots I would have to give the Xbox games the edge.

The Gamceube doign what it does best. Processing large volumes of gemoetry and shading "really" really" fast and fluidly.
