Forums - Gaming - Top 10 games on Metacritic this gen, do you agree?

That 98% for GTA4 just makes me feel so ashamed for the professionalism of gaming journalists. It's nothing but a disgrace.

I beat Galaxy 1, I've started Galaxy 2, I beat Arkham City and I own the Orange Box, though I've only beaten Portal and haven't played the other two yet. I've played a bit of Little Big Planet at my cousin's house. The list looks accurate enough, considering the fact that many games probably just barely missed the list. I still don't get why GTA IV got such high scores no matter who the critic was though.

My thread for teaching VGC some Nigerian slangs

To be fair GTAIV was the first big sandbox game to arrive this gen and so the only thing it compared to was last gen games. That's why it got like perfect scores for graphics even though it's FAR from the best looking game this gen.

I don't agree with 2 titles on the list, but I have no idea with which ones should I replace them, I can only think in personal favorites not just great games. Since you started the thread can you help me with the 3 runner ups? places 11th to 13th, to see if those are better IMHO to those in the top ten?

I think SMG1 and UC2 or 3 should be taken off the list, they shouldnt use repeated games (sequels/prequels unless the prequel/sequel is far apart in years like 5+).

Uncharted 2 is immensely better then 1 and 3, it deserves to be where it is.

K ........Part 3 *_*!

(Wait I confused my last post with another thread.....for some reason)

....3 isn't on the list -_-'

Considering that the only game on there that I own - Super Mario Galaxy - was the most disappointing Nintendo game I've ever played and that I don't want to own any of the others, something tells me my opinion is nothing like that of video game critics.
Well, these scores hardly reflect anything very tangible or objective so I suppose that's to be expected, :P.

Replace Batman with MGS4 and I am good with the list. Also I laughed a little when no XBOX exclusives were on the list.

Really, that much!? I'm the opposite when it comes to Mario Galaxy. Sure, the game could've been more difficult, and the hub world bigger and more interesting, but what they're only minor complaints tome. What did you fing about the game that was so dissapointing?

For the sake of argument, here is a similar list from GameRankings.
There are 16 "releases" this generation with a score which would round up to 95 or better.

One difference is that Gamerankings does not lump multi-platform releases into a single category. As a result, there are 3 Wii, 5 PS3, 6 X360, and 2 PC releases listed.

Essentially though, it is the same list since the two scoring aggregation sites use the same basic process.

As for the lists ... these are among the games that defined this generation -- so it is a pretty good list. One could quibble with some things (ranging from pop-ups in GTA IV to lack of story in SMG2) but it would be academic.
