Forums - Sales Discussion - Media Create & Famitsu Japan Sales: Week 32, 2012 (Aug 06 - 12) - Download numbers for NSMB 2 revealed!

Do they still make PS2 games? Seems odd that it still sells rather well for its age.

Around the Network

Not bad for DQ10 and Wii, but expected them to be higher. NSMB2 sales are disappointing. I really hope digital sales are huge because it's starting to compare terribly to its bigger brother...

Week Ending Week Weekly Change Total
27th May 2006 1 910,297 N/A 910,297
03rd June 2006 2 336,052 -63.1% 1,246,349
10th June 2006 3 252,464 -24.9% 1,498,813
17th June 2006 4 207,043 -18.0% 1,705,856
24th June 2006 5 175,950 -15.0% 1,881,806
01st July 2006 6 159,027 -9.6% 2,040,833
08th July 2006 7 138,153 -13.1% 2,178,986
15th July 2006 8 123,890 -10.3% 2,302,876
22nd July 2006 9 150,153 21.2% 2,453,029
29th July 2006 10 119,420 -20.5% 2,572,449

Basically, NSMB FW > NSMB2 3 weeks of sales! Its amazing how the game kept selling 100k+ for 13 consecutive weeks!!!

Next week I think is Obon so everything should be up.

Wii and DQX doing better than I expected. Not a lot, but ok.
NSMB2 and Onitore on the other hand. I don't think Nintendo is very happy with that performance, and doubt digital sales are big.

With NSMBU coming this holiday, expect NSMB2 to sell even less, or kill U numbers. Next year will be interesting to see if both have good legs or if one of them dominates the other.

Digimon showing some nice legs. A slow crawl to 200,000 maybe?

Don't forget that the DS had 2 million more hardware units sold more than the 3DS at the same time. Also take in series fatigue.

Can the 3DS get to 8 million before the Vita gets to its first million?

The Vita desperately needs 'its Monster Hunter like game'..if there isn´t any by the end of next year (or much earlier?), I wonder if Sony will pull the plug.

Well, Onitore has legs so i'm not suprised for it's sales this week, Mario dropped and is selling average for a 2D Mario game depending on what the sales are for the Eshop and Vita still under 8k. All in all not an exciting week.

Which is Nintendo's fault. Focusing on collecting coins is not interesting, and almost 100% sure people buy it for the platforming, which again, doesn't show anything new.

As someone who hasn't played, but watched the walkthrough (I know, I know) it was dissaponting to see nothing new on level design and worlds looking like DS rather than Wii. Hopefully NSMBU is a true NSMB sequel.

3rd parties working on vista games in Japan must be panicking.

Anyone using Vista should be in panic mode. XP is better.
