Is he, now? The term fanboy does not automatically have as negative a connotation as it does here on VGC (thanks in part to what used to be moderation policy)

I guess I agree.... but that wont stop me being banned if I start using the term here...... will it?
And I think he is referring to fanboys in this rather than just fans.

Honestly it doesn't matter if he is referring to Fanboys, he seems to have it out for Nintendo and the fanbase. Given I could a ratass what he actually thinks about the big three, as he as about as credible as any PR from a firm in my books.

Precisely. Acevil has hit it right on the head. The semantics of "fan" vs "fanboy" are irrelevant, IMO. Most of us would agree that "fanboys" who are incapable of seeing other points of view are irrational, but there's a deeper meaning to Pachter's words and stance in what he's saying.
Let's put it this way: Take Pachter's exact words and just substitute "Sony" or "Microsoft" in the place of "Nintendo". I can pretty much guarantee he would never say that about them. Just as someone else pointed out earlier when Satterfield corrected him on the 3DS' situation, he immediately disregards it as spin. The man truly appears to be a "fanboy" himself, against Nintendo, which is pathetic for someone in his position, IMHO.
