Terranigma is an Action RPG game for the SNES, it was develop by Quintet (who also develop games like ActRiser, ActRiser 2 and Soul Blazer) and it was published by Enix. It was released in Japan and Europe so if you want to play it you'll most likely have to play it on a emulator.
The main character of the game is a young boy called Ark who lives in a tiny village where he opens the Pandora's Box which makes all the people turn into stone, so in order to resurrect them you have to complete 5 towers; by doing so the people of the village come back to live and also resurrect the real world above where you live.
This is when the game starts to get really interesting, you go to Earth, and by that I mean literally Earth since you can go to America, Europe, Asia, Australia and Antarctica, and your goal is to resurrect all living things.
I'm not going to say anything else about the story because that will give some spoilers, but trust that the story is amazing, If you don't feel sad by the end of the game you sir have no soul!
The gameplay is really satisfying, it's really fast paced and imo is the best action RPG for the SNES.
Of course the game have some issues, first, some of the bosses are extremely annoying, not hard, just annoying and second, like some RPGs of the 16-bit era there're some really cryptic shit. good luck trying to beat this game without using a guide.
Overall this is an amazing game and one of the best underrated games for the SNES, definitely give it a try if you can.
Here's a video of someone who can explain the game a lot better than I
