Forums - Nintendo - Wii U Can Do “1080p Without Breaking A Sweat”

Developer Two Tribes offered to answer questions – via Twitter – regarding Wii U’s version of Toki Tori 2. The developer revealed that its team has been working with the Wii U console for a few months, and its “coders found it easier than expected” to make Wii U games. Two Tribes thinks that the Wii U is ‘awesome’ and claims that it can display games at “1080p without breaking a sweat.”

: Is the game 1080p native on WiiU or just upscaled to 1080p?” Full 1080p!

This is my first time seeing Drtre somewhere other than Youtube.

Well, the PS3 and 360 can also display 1080p without a sweat when it comes to that kind of PSN/Live Arcade quality of games.

This thing is gonna be a beast when the devs can really harness its power. Its matching high end 360 and PS3 games at LAUNCH, and hopefully a high percentage of its games run in 1080p. Im really getting hyped for this thing now.

Duh... they are making Toki Tori 2.... if that games wasn't in 1080p there would be seriously something wrong,...

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

If they could get 1080p for even games like NSMBU and Nintendo Land it'd be relatively satisfied but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Doesn't mean much since the tech is outdated. SMG came out in 2007 and looks better than most wii games.

They can. Nintendo chose not too for their own titles as it would be added cost with no benefit. All first party will be running at 1080p natively however.

The issue isn't that the Wii U isn't capable of running 1080p native. It's that Nintendo is smart enough to realise it's not worth the extra investment to have a marginal improvement in graphics. A problem a lot of developers have had trouble with this gen: if it can look better, make it look better, no matter how much greater the development costs grow.

You just said:

1) Nintendo isn't making their own titles 1080p due to cost.

2) All first party games will run at 1080p natively.

I'm confused.
