Forums - Nintendo - Slightly Mad Studios declares Project CARS as ‘the racing game with the most advanced graphics’

What?

What "what"? You're right the two versions will never be on par. More so, the WiiU version will be a far cry from the PC version. Case closed, there will be no need to push the PC version in light of the WiiU since PCs are that much better than the WiiU.

That's ignoring the fact that a few PC games iirc were limited due to the fact that they needed to be portable to the HD twins. I could be totally wrong though, but it's what I understood. I haven't played any high end PC games this gen except Starcraft 2, and I don't know if you can call that high end.

I don't know, you tell me.

I am by no means a graphics whore, but man do those screenshots look amazing.

You're right in most cases, that would be when the lead platform for a game is a console, this gen usually the 360, and the PC gets a port. Project Cars however uses the PC as the lead platform, and it's not aiming for a low-spec entry point like some MMOs, not familiar with SC2 so I won't comment on that specifically. It's aiming for the high-end, like Battlefield 3 for example. BF3 was developed with high-end PCs in mind, or as the recommended machine to play on, using PC as the lead platform, and the PS360 version runs at the equivelent of low (according to DICE), and has a more than halved player count in multi-player. Just for the record, I hate that I'm agreeing with ZW.

I'm still waiting to see the Wii U versions screen shots. They keep showing the PC version, but we are seeing nothing for the consoles. Doesn't matter how well it looks on the PC if none of that can be done a console.

Also, I'm not liking the environments. Is it a rule that environments must look horrid in racing games? I wish people would stop trying to copy Gran Turismo.

They assume that nobody will notice when they fly passed at 300kph, so they think they can save resources by not bothering to detail it as well as they could.

Not that I'm commenting on the environments in this game, all I can see in the OP is a bunch of "failed to load image" icons.

And I hate that I'm losing to him :3

Okay, I'll take your word for it. Do you have something I can read on this to help? (Specifically for Project CARS)

@OP, @andre. The graphics are incredible though, goodness.

On the wiki I found this:  This title is being developed using community-based development, pre-alpha testing, and funding, in an attempt to bypass normal publishing costs. This is planned to be the first title of a series of similarly-developed games, and the process will be known as World of Mass Development, or WMD. So this is really only possible with PC development. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slightly_Mad_Studios

And you can just tell from the screens it's on a high end PC and it's taking advantage of that platform.

That worked, thanks.

Holy flying pink asparagus that looks good. Those cars make even the Premiums in GT5 not look so hot. The environments don't look quite as good, but the trees alone put it beyond the likes of GT5 or Forza 4 in this regard.

Nice to see a dev actually taking advantage of the 7 years of graphical advancement PCs boast over currently  available consoles.

Guys, some of you may want to read up on this, you may even be able to play this sooner than you think.
