Okay yeah that's fair, you better replace that

You didn't really need to make a topic for this though

The topic is more how to clean the ps3 to get rid of my info on the 80GB and should I wait for Gamescom before making the purchase

And I imagine that the super slim, if it exists, will not add any new features. Unless you're expecting a price drop, you should probably replace it sooner rather than later so you don't get a lower price for the one you're selling.

Just to confirm, this method completely wipes my info and deactivates my name from this machine right?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Nice mI've buying the 500 GB HDD, it's so sweet and there's just so much space!
Do you have the slim or the original ps3?

Also, when you back up your old HDD (if you plan on backing it up), make sure you back it up to a external hard drive or other device that is formatted in the FAT32 format. Also, copy all your save data to a flash drive, so that sljust in case anything goes wrong, and you endup having to download your games again and reinstalling game data, that you still have your save files.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Original 80gb since I couldn''t get a warranty for a tampered ps3, I had to buy it normally. So now I'm selling the old one to fund a slim

According to the thread it should return it to factory settings

So you're buying a new slim and putting the HDD in it? That would still void the warranty I think. Or are you buying a used slim? Either way fine, I just wouldn't risk putting a new HDD in the fat ps3. Some people do it, but not me. but it sounds like you are selling your old ps3, so that's not an issue.

I'm sick and tired of only having 80GBs to work with. Because of it, I'm missing out a few PS+ games because I just don't have the space to store any of them. Also, my Playtv commitments are getting way too big for their boots, so I want to upgrade to a bigger HDD.

(Not to mention this 80GB has survived one YLOD, so it makes some sense to ditch it whilst it's still alive.)

If I sell my 80GB and a few games, I could end up only having to fork out a £100 for a 320GB console, now my question is, should I wait for Gamescom for a potential price drop announcement or even better, a 500GB console? Or just go crazy and buy one now and forever regret my desicison?

Also, if I want to get rid of every trace of my self (lulz) on my console, what do I need to do to? I obviously want to deactivate it so it doesn't count towards my 2PS3s activation thingy.

What i do is keep them in my download list. I hit download so that the Store recognizes i got it then i'll play one game beat it then download the other.

OOhh, you're buying the slim-slim, the one that isn't out yet.

That's probably the better option.

As far as I'm aware, that's being held back to get rid of the regular slims.
