wait till gamescom. they might announce the super slim plus a 500gb model plus the price drop

what do you do play games 24/7. I have the 160gb mode and probably have only used 30 of that at the most.

I record tv shows with my ps3
I use home...a LOT
Installs for games
actual games (I'm a ps+ user so I get lots of games to fill up my count)
Music
with 80GBs, it goes quite quickly

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Since your to lazy to upgrade the HDD, wait till the new Slim PS3 comes, it'll probably come with a big price cut.

What the fuck dude!

Just switch the HDD!! xD

I think my ps3 is one step away from a 2nd YLOD, don't want to risk it.

It doesn't matter. Segate Momentus (non XT) 750GB 7200 rpm HDD  £70-75. Buy it now. Wait for the new PS3 model, if any.Backup your new HDD, put the old 80GB HDD back, sell the Phat PS3 and buy the cheapest Slim. Hopefully still the 120GB. Replace the HDD in the new Slim with the 750GB one (that doesnt void the warranty), run the restore. A new Slim with a 500GB HDD will probably cost you more than a 120GB Slim + the 750GB HDD.  If you are afraid of YLOD sell it now. If you get a YLOD in the meantime you just lose the data. The new HDD will be safe. It's harder to write it than to do it..

Backing up my saves atm and "multiple copy" is a godsend, a bit sneaky making it PS+ only but hmm... may need to back up my tv shows as well fun night is fun ¬_¬

In all seriousness, my 80GB has survived 1 YLOD, I think rather than feeding it a bigger hard drive, it would be a good idea to replace it because it's out of warranty. If it were to die again, I'm screwed

I don't want to bring bad omen, but a friend of mine got his Phat dead after some years and the second day after he replaced it for a Slim, the Slim YLOD'ed on him. He was playing COD without resting the machine though, but I just wanted to say that you never know. Either way, you could stil have the HDD for you and use it for a new machine in the future.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

I'd definitely wait for Gamescom. I recently upgraded to a 320gb slim from an aging, refurbed 60gb system, and it was a great decision. It's much quieter, much cooler, more reliable (I assume), and uses less power.  Plus, it has a much better wi-fi NIC. I am now able to stream content from my PC while being simultaneously connected to PSN via wi-fi, something I could only do through a wired connection before. I've gotten upwards of 1MBps download speeds with wi-fi on the slim, a figure I think was only limited by Sony's slow servers.

I assume the new slims will match or best the old slims in most ways, so you can't go wrong waiting.
