And that would make the game "survival" as it is in the original Japanese name for the series(Survival Kids).

Now add constant assault and mortal threat by malicious supernatual evil and you will get the compound genre survival-horror as well.

OH, you mean like zombies? okay.

Zombies is one way it could be done.

Then there are possessed/spirits like in Alan wake. Then there are deranged killers like in Clock Tower. Then there are demons like in Alone in the Dark. Then there are simple monsters like in Silent Hill. Then there are traps and wild life like in Penumbra.

Zombies are the most popular way to to provide danger in survival horror games, and people will always make that correlation, like it or not.

Zombies themsleves don't make anything horror. There were zombies in the Legend of Zelda: Ocrarina of Time, Final Fantasy, Castlevania, Plants vs Zombies and Time Splitters 2 but none of those games are horror.

What if zombies are the focus of the game for more than a definable percentage of game time? Could the genre of the game change depending on that?

Horror is a genre defined by the style, intention and execution of a given plot, not by the entities that exist within or the volume of there presence. Zombies have started to become stale and overused honestly. If it weren't for the Upad, I wouldn't give ZombiU a second thought.

But the genre still needs a vehicle to deliver the plot, and Zombies apparently fit that bill. Intriguing scenarios can still be built around the Zombie idea. It's fine to feel burned out on zombies, but you have this habit of posting in absolutes and then lashing out when someone counters something you've written.

I have nothing more to write about this, so just take this as friendly advice, and try to take things here a bit less seriously. Maybe even satirically.

You've got me confused with someone else. I respond to people in the nature in which they address me. If you saw me lashing out at anyone in any form, I can assure that they had done so toward me first.

Second I take nothing seriously on this site. I am simply a direct and to the point, fact driven person. An intellectual in other words. To many people on here try to challenge and/or insult my logic. That is unwise. It nothing for me to shoot an argument to pieces with facts. Some of you seem be taking what I'm saying too seriously or harshly. You ask, and I asnwer but take it the wrong way. I can not control the way you choose to interpret my responses.

That is of no importance though. I am not the topic. The Wii U and horror games is the topic. If you would like to adress me, please do it in a message or somewhere else.

Wii U is the prefect fit for every genre quite honestly. The Wii U merges the gameplay opportunities of the XBox 360/PS3, Wii, DS/3DS, and Phone/Tablet into one device; and companies that are interested should be able to find gameplay mechanics from one of these devices that will enhance the gameplay in whatever game they're developing. The amount of things developers can think is infinite. If it fails, then I give up on the gaming community - you can have your 'apps' and I'll just stick with the deeper stuff that comprises generations 3-7.

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.
