As the launch of the Wii U draws closer, exclusive titles are looking better and better. One of the titles that has the most excitement surrounding it is ZombiU. Although we don’t know very much about the Wii U, we are slowly getting details of the games the Wii U will launch with. Recently, ZombiU producer Guillaume Brunier and its senior script writer Gabrielle Shrager were kind enough to answer some questions from nintendo-gamers.net about the upcoming ZombiU game for the Wii U.
Here are some interesting quotes from the interview:
We’re working with Antony Johnston on the script, acclaimed British comics book author and writer of Dead Space and Dead Space Extraction among other great games to help us get the most out of this tremendous setting and its unique characters.
The player will explore day-to-day London filled with cosmopolitan urban-dwellers, from its typical brick neighbourhoods to its palaces with all the royal strappings. London is a city of contrast and history and the player will explore locations like Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London, a medieval tower smack in the middle of the modern city. Each of the maps has its own particularities, which we’ll let players discover for themselves. However, ZombiU does not present a one-to-one visual representation of London: it’s a credible, creepy, apocalyptic vision of this great city.
We have developed online features for the community. Players will be able to kill their zombified friends and recover the stuff in their inventory. Our blacklight feature allows players to scan environments and reveal messages left by your friends (other survivors), and you can help each other out all along the adventure and leave secret messages for each other with a secret code that you will discover in the story.
Another original feature of this game mechanic is that you then have to “put down” your former zombified player character to recover any of the precious supplies, gear and quest items you have just sacrificed a life for. Every time you meet up with one of your former characters, who has now become one of the infected, it’s an incredibly thrilling and creepy experience.
It’s a very egalitarian game, there’s no natural aptitude for surviving a zombie apocalypse! In gameplay terms, each character you play gets progressively better at handling weapons. For instance, the more your current survivor plays with a hand gun, the faster he or she will be able to draw, shoot and reload, accuracy will improve and kickback decrease. If this survivor dies, the next survivor you play will have to learn these skills for him or herself all over again.
We’ve been working with the Nintendo Wii U hardware for quite some time now and have tried to make the most of every creative aspect that this new hardware has to offer with respect to our game concept. The Nintendo Wii U delivers an opportunity to immerse players like no other console out there; allowing us to create a truly scary experience.
Also, the Wii U is a perfect fit for the Survival Horror genre, promising an amazingly immersive experience, exclusive to the Wii U. Fans of the genre will absolutely want to sink their teeth into ZombiU.
