Forums - Gaming - I'm planning to trade my PS Vita for a 3DS XL. Cunning decision or stupid?

I would go ahead and do it. Do that, then when the vita slim releases, trade your old 3ds in for that. By the end of next year, you should be able to tell if the vita has a library of games that suit you and it should show the general direction the system is going.

Wait, the PS Vita's screen only lasts for 5000 hours? As long as it doesn't dim that much, than I guess it's not a huge deal. If I only play the Vita 3 hours a day, it'd last me about 4.3 years. I don't play any of my video game systems every day, so it'd likely last me even longer than that.

Still, it's not good to know that it has a life span attached to the screen.

All screens have an expected lifespan attached to them. It's nothing new.

True, but the average life span of an LCD screen is 60,000 hours, while supposedly it's only 5,000 for the Vita. That's quite a big difference.

I don't know why people tell me to get a life. I'm a gamer, I have lots of lives!

Aren't the Ambassador Program games on the SD card anyway, so it shouldn't make a difference?

Yes but the XL can't read the data on the SD card without the system transfer because the data is coded to only work in conjunction with the specific device.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

If that's the case, I dunno. Nintendo will come up with something, I'm sure. Tried emailing them about it?

No, I will get rid of the old 3DS eventually. I just want to transfer my ambassador stuff and the other eShop games first.

Now, THIS is how these threads are supposed to be made.

*tears of joy*

I would keep the Vita myself, mainly because I'm the laziest guy on the planet and wouldn't want to re-buy systems and go through trading processes. I'd also be concerned about the ambassador program for the reasons already mentioned.

(Between you and me and the internet though, I think that if you do trade it in you deserve to make emulator versions of the games as a compensation for poor service.)

lol don't think the life time stuff are accurate...if it was I would have definitely heard about it by now

You always come off as a ninty game fan the most to me...so if it makes sense to you then it's a perfectly a good idea. I'm glad no one is attacking you like they did the last time someone asked about trading in a 3ds for vita. The issue is not a lack of games but having games to match your preference. Anywho best of luck

I would say contact Nintendo. Why would you ask GameStop to transfer data anyway? I'm sure they would be able to tell you something.

But if selling of the Vita is the only way then I would say to do it! There aren't too many games coming out right now and if you see some thing's you like later on then you can just buy a used one.

Seeing Vita sales.....your decision is cunning and in no way stupid.
