Forums - Website Topics - Sales tools must be there for next gen

When should these tools be ready?

November 2012 30 85.71%

November 2013 3 8.57%

Early 2013 2 5.71%

Total:35

Hi guys. I understand that the VGChartz staff is hard at work with gamewise atm, but it will be important to have vgchartz incorporate the sales tools before the start of next gen.

That means the tools need to be made available before November 2012, or before Novermber 2013 at the latest.

The consequence of failing at this would lead to a continued lost focus on sales on the site, a characteristic that makes this place unique and offers something other sites don't.

Here are some of the tools expected:

  • HW line charts for multiple platforms spanning a number of weeks (use a date selector for start and end).
  • SW line charts for multiple games. (examples: http://goo.gl/xnymBhttp://goo.gl/CX8xz , http://goo.gl/I2UrA ). Not just limited by series. And not only totals in chronological order, but also weeklies.
  • For both cases above, possibility of aligned launch numbers choosing a week start and end, or a date matching one of the items analyzed. By region can be also superimposed. Tabular results would also display (unselectable if needed). The option to use shipping numbers (and/or) against sales numbers would be great (HW only) -> http://goo.gl/beOIA.
  • First week sales analysis of games. (example: http://goo.gl/w32mp )
  • Pie charts, column charts, on demand.
  • Sorting functions on the front page totals.
  • Multiplat groupings checkbox in SW totals. See here for an example -> http://goo.gl/1SBd0
  • Ability to compare 1st party games by plat in SW totals -> http://goo.gl/nYpgX (ignore the text, just look at the tables)
  • The option to combine multi-plat totals in the top-tens rather than having 3+ entries for one same game.
  • The option to remove bundled games if desired. The ability to look at bundle counts and sku counts separately if possible.
  • R&D into digital sales figures.
These are just some ideas, post any other and make sure the focus is on sales and will empower you with ways to demonstrate your analyses and avoid manual work.

ready? We had line charts back in 2008.. I'm pretty sure they are ready but if we ever get them back.... :(

I'm aware, what are other things you needed to add to what other tools we might need (see my list for examples)

All I know is that we need more chart and graphics stuff. And lots of articles on sales and sales trends, franchises, were-to, etc.

The sort of stuff that can make VGC unique and worthy of it's name.

This thread gets my seal of approval.

Completely agree, but when we had CHARTZ! it was a much friendly place to make assumptions than now, you have to wait on ethomaz for anything GT5.

I approved this thread... VGC needs more tools... more = better.

The sad thing about this is that we used to have many of those tools and they were taken away from us. I do agree we should get them back for when the next gen comes. This will make crushing fanboy arguments much easier.

Signature goes here!

Agreed, but there's no 'today' option in your poll.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
