Slimebeast, how do you know this game has little gameplay, poor characters, etc already?

How do you know the new Hitman will be God's gift to mankind?

I have studied the gameplay video (and discussed it in another thread where we discovered how scripted this game is), and I know Naughty Dog's record and I also know the current trends in making TV-series (why I mentioned The Walking Dead).

It's not a wild guess to predict that Ellie for example, will have the role of this tough little girl with immense amounts of self-integrity (the strong female. Movies aren't allowed to have weak females anymore) and who will deliver the clever and sarcastic comments in the game. Bla bla bla, I'm not good at describing character feats but you get the picture. Those videos while small still give so much away if you analyze them.

The Hitman franchise bas been around for 10 years and the developers have said that they will stay true to the series roots. That's why.

You can't just watch a five minute video and form an analysis based off of that. That's not how character development works. Character development can take a long time to truly flesh out each person.

As for the gameplay, we've seen what...one video. That's it. And actually, we determined that the scene wasn't scripted. I don't know where you are getting your info.

About Joel's possible character I described earlier, it was mostly a wibe I got from the movies and gameplay clip. I might well have projected far too much into it though and read into things that weren't there, but we'll see.

The gameplay, the whole 7 minutes weren't scripted since you can move your guy and choose where to go among other inputs by the player. But you know what a script in video game design is, right? All games use scripts. Some more, some less. The Last of us, just like Uncharted, uses A LOT of scripts. For details I refer you back to that thread. I already feel the heat here enough as it is lol.

perhaps it was scripted. But not to the extent that it deserves to be called an interactive movie. Since you are the one applying the term. Please, explain how The Last of Us is an interactive movie. Surely, you have evidence to back up your claim. And I want specific details and examples. Not some vague predictions based on what you think might happen.

Everyone drives a different line when something is called an interactive movie and when not.

Most people agree that a game like Heavy Rain can be described as an interactive movie.

But more and more in the industry, from top designers, you hear this phrase (or the two words being used in the same context) as a criticism of what's going on with the cinematization, casualization and taking control away from the player in modern game design. You know well that I belong to this group of critics. So, where I do I draw the line of what's to be considered an interactive movie? Basically with games such as Call of Duty and Uncharted. To me they work as interactive movies.

The specific details and examples of The Last of us having these features I listed thoroughly in that other thread (around E3, something like"The last of us demo wasn't scripted"). Sorry I wish I had the time and energy to do it, because I like to have this argument, but I am tired and I already feel I stuck out my nose too far in this thread (it's not a joy to have several people strongly disagree with you).

So basically, you have no evidence to support your claim

You keep falling back on that one thread. So you know what? I will find that thread and I will read through it entirely. And I will come back and I hope to see you again. Be prepared.

Haha, you do that. I'm looking forward to it.

Okay Slimebeast, I have read through the entire thread (luckily most posts were only a few lines long) and 98% of the posters agreed that the footage was NOT scripted. (the remaining 2% being Zanewane). And by NOT scripted, I mean not scripted like Uncharted. From this thread, it does not deserve the title 'interactive movie'

I feel its appropriate to now ask: where you lying this entire time?

An interactive movie needs at least an interesting story and lovable characters. This story presentation and acting is on the level of The Walking Dead TV-series, which I admit is impressive coming from a game developer, but it's sadly also more pretentious and without lovable characters. I hate that kid already and I dislike the man too and I feel no connection whatsoever.

Now Rockstar and John Marston on the other hand...

It's almost comical to see gamers go wild over a clip that looks like a regular TV-show.

I didn't get red dead until it was in the bargain bin six months after release and I could careless about John Marston until the very end when you start to feel for the character. It wasn't until 20 hours into the game that I started to like the guy.

I beat the game yesterday for the first time. I stopped at blackwater because I didnt give a shit seriously. But yeah it got good from there LOL. Completely agree with you xD

The Hansons and Justin Bieber are garbage artists no matter how many young, ignorant girls out there happen to listen to them. And I speak on behalf of more than just myself.

Oblivion sucks.

Jay, sorry man but that doesnt seem to be the right thread because I am not in there. I know there were multiple threads around E3 that touched the scripted topic and in one of them I participated with several posts.

Do a google search Slimebeast vgchartz ellie dumb

I don't want to read through the entire thread right now, but I'll just say this. The fact that you could play through the entire level without killing anyone should be enough evidence that that it doesn't deserve the title 'interactive movie'.

This game looks better and better everytime!
