About Joel's possible character I described earlier, it was mostly a wibe I got from the movies and gameplay clip. I might well have projected far too much into it though and read into things that weren't there, but we'll see.
The gameplay, the whole 7 minutes weren't scripted since you can move your guy and choose where to go among other inputs by the player. But you know what a script in video game design is, right? All games use scripts. Some more, some less. The Last of us, just like Uncharted, uses A LOT of scripts. For details I refer you back to that thread. I already feel the heat here enough as it is lol.

perhaps it was scripted. But not to the extent that it deserves to be called an interactive movie. Since you are the one applying the term. Please, explain how The Last of Us is an interactive movie. Surely, you have evidence to back up your claim. And I want specific details and examples. Not some vague predictions based on what you think might happen. |
Everyone drives a different line when something is called an interactive movie and when not.
Most people agree that a game like Heavy Rain can be described as an interactive movie.
But more and more in the industry, from top designers, you hear this phrase (or the two words being used in the same context) as a criticism of what's going on with the cinematization, casualization and taking control away from the player in modern game design. You know well that I belong to this group of critics. So, where I do I draw the line of what's to be considered an interactive movie? Basically with games such as Call of Duty and Uncharted. To me they work as interactive movies.
The specific details and examples of The Last of us having these features I listed thoroughly in that other thread (around E3, something like"The last of us demo wasn't scripted"). Sorry I wish I had the time and energy to do it, because I like to have this argument, but I am tired and I already feel I stuck out my nose too far in this thread (it's not a joy to have several people strongly disagree with you).

So basically, you have no evidence to support your claim
You keep falling back on that one thread. So you know what? I will find that thread and I will read through it entirely. And I will come back and I hope to see you again. Be prepared. |
Haha, you do that. I'm looking forward to it. |
I did....now explain yourself.
