Who will exit the market next gen?

Sony 225 49.02%

Microsoft 98 21.35%

Nintendo 67 14.60%

Sony & Nintendo 20 4.36%

Microsoft & Nintendo 21 4.58%

Microsoft & Sony 27 5.88%

Total:458

If Sony's next home console will not do well then they are out of the race. Period.

Microsoft has been getting really positive income for the past few months so I doubt they will get out because the 360 brand has really become popular at least in America. They'll try their hardest to stay in.

Nintendo won't be out.

Well Nintendo even if they completely fail will probably still make a profit as is their way.

Microsoft will refuse to leave, because they see this less as a battle of videogame consoles and more a battle of entertainment PCs.

Sony... I guess could leave, but I don't see why. PlayStation is still arguably the strongest brand name in videogames and compared to everything else Sony is doing right now... videogames seem like a relative bright spot. Even if they do bad, Sony will likely stay in it, because PlayStation will be one of the least ugliest dogs in show.

If Sony were to spin off the gaming division into "Playstation Corp" that would still count as staying in right?

Either way, if I have to vote from the above, I'd pick Sony as most likely... but honestly, I don't think it's likely any of them are forced out next generation, unless there just isn't a generation after that.

Sony, but even then...Sony is selling the most home consoles atm which is kind of funny. I know this will change in November, but it's funny how it seems that people agree the current leader in the console market is the most susceptible to removal.

The only one talking about next gen being their last box, the last one you need to buy, can upgrade maybe, is Microsoft. Microsoft wants to be your service provider in the living room and is not really interested in you having a dedicated games box in the bedroom. So MS is the mostly likely to quit the console race after next gen, and just focus on providing tv, movies, apps and to a lesser extent streamed games. I wouldn't put it past them if they'll make you pay for an OS upgrade 5 years into next gen.

Sony is not going to quit, their games division is profitable now and their game system is great for promoting all their other stuff, blu-ray, movies, 3D, and whatever comes next.

Nintendo will find something new for next gen. Why would they quit if they can sell at a profit from day 1 and everyone still loves all their game franchises. It would be like Disney deciding they'll bow out of making animated feature movies.

I do not think sony will be around after next gen. Though the playstation brand will be bought by some other company after sony goes bankrupt and live on.

I really can't see Nintendo leaving the market ever. Even when their consoles sell smaller amounts (GameCube) they remain profitable. Microsoft looks like it could win next-gen, Windows 8 is a great OS from what I've spent with it and if they can spread the Xbox brand around it's devices, it could lead to domination. Sony on the other hand is looking in a fairly bad position. They don't have a new disc to outdo blu-ray quality to sell to the non-gamers as a media player and their financials are garbage at the moment, if they take a loss on the PS4 again, I think they may be forced to leave the market, sadly.

exit gaming market? microsoft, they will focus on entertainment and throw token halos and gear of war.. not gaming.
nintendo arguably hasn't been in the gaming market this entire generation, they might not even be in it next gen. they have a few OK titles but with no big name shooters and the lack of the standard RPGS ( skyrim, fallout ect) they are missing out on the 2 biggest gaming genres.

Sony seems like what they are focusing on is to be THE console for gamers. they still need the answer to halo and gears of war, neither game even has a remote equal on playstation, but with the current focus on new IPs and creativity Sony only really needs to improve what they have been doing to be the big winner next gen.

Geez.. Sony already?

Yay!!!

Nintendo will stay. Sony will stay unless the go bankrupt. Microsoft might leave if they think they're better off investing in something else.

I think it's more likely that MS will move one from gaming to something else than Sony going bust, so I voted MS.

However, I think all three will stay in the gaming business in some form.
