Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo responds to Microsoft "We don't compare ourselves to other companies"

How many companies do you know would attempt to brag about something being on par with theres and not weaker? The best insult they could come up with is they are like them... which is obviously not true. That just goes to show that Micrsoft refuses to acknolowledge gains made by Nintendo

A few days ago, some genius from Microsoft said that the Wii U is effectively an Xbox 360, which stirred a lot of controversy among Nintendo fans. Microsoft’s argument was that the hardware is similar and the only reason developers are supporting the Wii U platform is so they can bring old Xbox 360 games to the new console. That’s not the first time Microsoft made a crazy comment about the Wii U — last month they claimed the new Xbox 360 SmartGlass was better than the Wii U GamePad controller.

But Nintendo isn’t entering into a verbal fight with Microsoft, opting for a more diplomatic route. Nintendo commented on Microsoft’s statement to ThatShortGuy, simply saying “We do not compare ourselves to the other consoles.” Nintendo added that the new Wii U Pro Controller is an “enhanced version” of the Wii Classic controller, and has been specifically designed for the Wii U. The Pro controller offers developers more options to work with, should they not find the tablet controller suitable for their games. Recent photos of early Wii U dev kits showed that developers initially only had access to the Wii Classic controller when creating games for the new console.

this thread is literally screaming "troll me!!".

The Xbox controller is basically a merger between the SNES- and the GC-Controller. So Microsoft stole buttons and stick layout and now Nintendo stole the shape and the shoulder button layout. Big fucking deal.

But it's good that Nintendo doesn't participate in the mudslinging. It only shows that the other companies are legitimately concerned. We'll see if it's justified or not.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

When the Xbox 360 controller is a complete mesh of controller designs before it, no one really CAN copy the Xbox 360 controller (Unless of course it was a 99% replication).

The Wii U controller is just another take on the evolution of controller designs. It shares many things in common with the 360 controller because the 360 controller is a combination of all those earlier ideas.

"Nintendo doing its own thing" is one of the things I love about them.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Considering the 360 controller was a ripoff of the Gamecube controller, and those are the two greatest controllers ever made. I don't think I mind if Nintendo gets "inspired."

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Not much better of a article than the original that spurred off Microsoft's comment.

they all compare themselve with the others. the nintendo guy meant the difference won't be so big between wiiu and ps4/nextbox without even kowing what they will show us. funny to compare yourself with others just to claim you don't compare with others a week later.

nintendo says difference won't be so big -> microsoft and sony fans say "lol"

microsoft or sony say something about nintendo -> nintendo fans "lol"

sony about microsoft -> microsoft fans "lol"

microsoft about sony -> sony fans "lol"

only thing i really recognized it that sony talks more about microsoft, microsoft about nintendo and nintendo about both others as "one". but es example microsoft not so often about sony and sony not so often about nintendo. but not sure if this is only coincidence that i read articles which were like that and yeah, nintendo is doing it less than the other companies but they also do it.

Nintendo only make respones. The things you mentioned were respones to things about the other companies that were directed at them. Microsoft and Sony take the initiative and go out of there way to lash at Nintendo. Secondly, it actually Sony that has always been more verbal against Nintendo.

"Wii is an impulse buy", "What if they have a family of more than 5", the move commercial with the dude trying to make fun of the wii mote, Nintendo is its own generatino(next gen dis),

1. what did iwata respond to when he was talking about wii u graphics compared to nextbox/ps4? sure he got asked about it but he still doesn't have to talk about the competitions future consoles and their graphical capabilities compared to wii u if he doesn't want to. and like i said, nintendo is doing it less than the other ones but they still do it.

2. yeah ok it's what i read but maybe sony is talking more about nintendo than microsoft i didn't read much like that i only read sony talking about microsoft like every week.
