Same power as a 360?? well Batman Arkham city is a high end 360 game in terms of graphics, released late in the consoles life when devs can squeeze every last drop of power out of the system. Now Arkham city is a WiiU launch title that runs with no effort whatsoever and was easily ported across. Think of the graphical potential of the WiiU when devs have got to grips with it and can push it to its limits. I think Sony and Microsoft fans are going to be very dissapointed next gen as the graphical leap from this gen is not going to be as significant as before. Graphics are now getting to the point where not much more can be done, and these companies are going to have to innovate to set their consoles aside from the competition..this is where i think Nintendo exel. Also last time i checked the 3DS was topping worlwide sales so 3D must be a selling point for it. Personally i think Kinect is lame and the people i know that own it dont use it and it gathers more dust than their Wiis.
Obvious troll is obvious.

I think these predictions are doomed, it will be great to pull them back up after the WiiU sells 20M+ units by Christmas 2013.
@VGKing. Every now and then you hit one home. Good stuff.

Nintendo launches this time often in all three regions at the same time. But as the launch is likely near to the holidays, a slight later release would mean, that it misses one region with christmas-sales. But I on the other hand take the risk, that Sony and MS don't release their next-gen offerings in 2013. That would bring the Wii-U a second holiday of sales, I think that makes reaching the milestone easy. I think the risks are well balanced between us. So, if you want to stay to your claim, we can bet, if the Wii-U will have reached 15M worldwide sales according to VGChartz, as the next-gen console of Sony or Microsoft is released. If the price is above 350 €/$ or below 250 €/$ in US or Europe, the bet is off. We make a thread about the result, and the loser has to link to this thread with a statement like 'xxx was right' in his sig for say 3 months. That is better than ... a penis-avatar. What do you say? |
Alright, here's the deal: My original claim was based on NeXtBox/PS4 not launching until a full year after WiiU. So if we just say in a full year of availability after WiiU's release in all three regions, then you're on. That way, if Microsoft surprise launches in April 2013, I'm not screwed, and if Microsoft/Sony waits until holiday of 2014, you're not screwed. It's the most fair this way. However, keep in mind that I'm saying "a full year after it has released in all three regions". Therefore, if it launches this November in Japan/NA and not until next March in Europe, then it's a full year from March. It's supposed to launch worldwide this year, however, so this is likely a non-issue.
So I'll reiterate:
"Archbrix predicts that if WiiU launches for $299 (or less), it will sell at least 15m WW (according to Vgchartz data) in its first full year of availability in all three major regions (NA/Europe/Japan). Mnementh says not."
I accept the stakes you proposed (3 month statement in the losers sig admitting defeat), so if you agree to this criteria we'll post the bet in our sigs ASAP. Sound good?

That would be impressive, it would match the Wii which was released at a much better time (ie before all this recession stuff kicked in)

Well, that gives it two christmasses, and if the 3DS is any indicator, it's possible. Also, the WiiU will be much hotter than the 3DS stateside, so I'm fairly confident in my prediction :) But yeah, you're right, it would be impressive.
That's because Nintendo is the opposite of doomed imho, Nintendo is impressive, and good enough to help posters like OP and other doubters here to shame once the numbers are in. I can't wait.

When it comes to Holidays a lot of people don't give a crap how much money they spend no matter the situation.

Prediction and wishful thining arent the same thing.
The xbox guy has no base to his statements since he doesnt have nintendo insider information.
The second screen worked for the DS and 3DS. The 3D worked for the 3DS since the system is a sucess.
None of the predictions make any actual sense, and i had issues trying to follow the line of thought in your post.

To a point yes, but the time constraint happydolphin has is probably going to be the same as the one the Wii had for Christmas 2007... which the Wii got to 18.8 million.
I would say expecting the WiiU to end 2013 above 15 million is optimistic even if it launches before November 2012 (ie gives it enough chance to ramp up Christmas 2012 sales)
