Is very small by todays standards, for the type of game it is with covering all playstation AND including third party is actually far too small.  Gonna be a lot of non represented games.  Look at Marvel vs Capcom 3, or even Ultimate MvC3, has 50 or so and still a lot of major characters or IPs not included.

True I would personally be very happy with 30, given this is the first title in the series. But yeah they said it's over 20 characters so I'm hoping it's around 25 at least.

On the plus side hopefully they won't have clone characters and go diversity. So far so good on that front. Hope they keep it up

I think its gonna be more than 20. But as long as the characters represent a diverse amount of games and play styles it will be ok. Brawl had 35 characters but 3 star fox characters, all clones. As long as they don't do that 20-25 should be enough.

Yep they said over 20. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they haven't finalized the roster yet
