That's strange, why would a slim version be actually bigger? Even if its hight is lower and it's lighter I'd like the PS3 redesign to be smaller in lenghth and width, otherwise I'll be disappointed. Perhaps the pictures are out of scale? They seem to take the little 'legs' (I don't know how you call those) as a reference, but perhaps they are smaller in the new design.



Perhaps its much cheaper.

I would say the comparison is a bad one, because if you superpose the slim over the fat you see that the slim is not as "wide" as it is in reallity.   The slim has a dimension that is actually bigger than the one in the fat.

Phat PS3 Dimensions: 12.81" wide, 10.79" deep, 3.86" tall

Slim PS3 Dimensions: 11.42" wide, 11.42" deep, and 2.56" tall

 

And yet they have almost the exact wide:

 

 

The Slim on the picture should exceed the wide of the phat in the pic by a lot more if it was  a true comparison.

You're right, the comparison between the first two models isn't accurate. I feel more confident now that the new redesign will be smaller.

knew this was coming!
brought a PS3 slim in Feb and won't be buying a new super slim... UNLESS... it comes in Blue.. (Sony PLEASE release it in Blue in the UK at launch)

oh.. while im sure this isnt the best way to judge it if it is infact just slimmer and not alot smaller i wont be interested at all. i want a SMALL PS3 if the PS4 cant play PS3 games. like.. a bit bigger then the PS2 Slim (3 times that maybe? not a massive system that is just thin

The word you are looking for is width lol. It was just a quickly made comparison by someone on neogaf. It's not 100% accurate. Just a good representation. The difference in width in real world and that picture really isn't a large amount at all. 



Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

It is a good idea to increase sales. A price cut last year had a small effect but when MS and Sony release new models sales skyrocket.

 

I hope the new slim is Backwards compatible. I already have a phat that is BC but a bigger harddrive and faster download speeds would be nice.
