If it is right then this new model seems to actually be a little bit bigger than the slim. Maybe it is thinner or something? I would say the comparison is a bad one, because if you superpose the slim over the fat you see that the slim is not as "wide" as it is in reallity.   The slim has a dimension that is actually bigger than the one in the fat.

Phat PS3 Dimensions: 12.81" wide, 10.79" deep, 3.86" tall

Slim PS3 Dimensions: 11.42" wide, 11.42" deep, and 2.56" tall

 

And yet they have almost the exact wide:

The Slim on the picture should exceed the wide of the phat in the pic by a lot more if it was  a true comparison.

The word you are looking for is width lol. It was just a quickly made comparison by someone on neogaf. It's not 100% accurate. Just a good representation. The difference in width in real world and that picture really isn't a large amount at all.
