I became aware of it was some years ago when there was a controversy in Norway about a that was trying to train all its male students to pee sitting down. There was a big debate about it on this Norwegian blog where I was posting at the time, and the sitzpinkler phenomenon came up. Before that, it never even occurred to me that there could be a political aspect to urination.

To be fair, you can't know whether girls at strip clubs are there of their own free will. Similarly with any porn, professional or amateur. You never know which ones are and aren't sex slaves (indeed, it's routine practice to tape the "breaking in" of a sex slave in order to blackmail her into staying in, then later distributing it as amateur porn to make some extra money.
