I was just replaying its fantastic campaign and it suddenly hit me - This is the pinnacle of gaming, the greatest game of all time! Nothing will ever beat this. Skyrim came close, but it still pales in comparison. It has been nearly 10 years since its release and after about 20 playthroughs it is still fantastic!

It has a vast, diverse environment with stunning graphics for its time. It contains a huge variety of enemies such as dinosaurs and humanoid style aliens. There are a wide variety of weapons from simple bows to plasma rifles. The list goes on and on..

They fucked up the franchise in 2008 when they released 'Turok', which is potentially one of the shittest games of all time. *sigh*

incredible atmosphere non FPS has except Metroid Prime

I actually enjoyed Turok: Rage Wars a lot back in the day. It had bots (which most console FPS didn't at the time except a few). While it wasn't as good as Goldeneye or Perfect Dark it was up there.

This has to be a joke. This was the worst entry in the series. Turok 2 is far superior in every way, with #1 being close (soft spot for me)

I kind of liked the scale of Evolution suggested by the flying levels, but that is damn near all I liked about it.

Turok is about three things: horrible robot/dinosaur hybrids, insane-ass weapons, and getting lost for days on end.

Evolution did not have any of htose things when it counted.

I cannot speak for Turok, as I've never played it, just seen others play. I have a friend who's been a huge Turok fan since the N64 days, though. Now, he says Turok 2 is the best in the series, and that Evolution for GameCube was awful and he hated it.

Is he missing something, or are you? That is the real question here.

I haven't played this one but personally I thought the original turok for N64 was very dull and boring. Probably the worst feeling i have had playing an fps.

He's likely being ironic. Turok: Evolution was pretty crappy and it didn't deliver 1/10th of what Acclaim promised.

I'm being 100% serious. I have never played any other Turok game other than Evolution and that piece of shit 2008 release, so I couldn't comment on whether Turok 2 is better than evolution or not. I'll try to get an emulator to play the earlier games. Anyway, It's hard to believe that all of you have negative opinions of it... I cannot think of one flaw..? Everything about it is fantastic - it is the pinnacle of gaming IMO, nothing will ever be better.

The combat, the music, the weapons, the game world, the graphics, the simplicity of the health and ammo, the wide range of enemies, the flying levels, the complex story...everything is perfect!
