Sony Are Mishandling The Playstation Vita

Despite the potential, the PlayStation Vita has a lot of issues right now, and it’s all stemming from Sony.

It’s not from a hardware perspective, as it’s pretty stellar in that area.  It’s not even the cost to own one, even though it’s very pricey, despite the handheld’s capabilities.  It’s not even the currently lackluster sales, though they are extremely poor.

The biggest problem with the Vita right now can be summed up into one word: games.  Where are they?

And here we go again

Games arent the issue, it all depends on the taste of the gamer, from what I see in the current library or in the upcoming its enough for 1 year (of course they'll announce more).

Main problem with the Vita imo is the memory cards, so damn expensive. Pretty sure digital downloads and purchases will improve if memory cards didnt cost so much or came along with the system. (and no I dont mean a tiny 4 gb card).

Memory cards are a big factor to why I'm hesitant to get the vita and it was one of the reasons I was afraid of getting the psp. I just wish they were reasonably priced. Maybe include a 2 gig with every vita or 4gb so that people can at least play the games they buy at retail. Also, make a 64 gb card.

The Hardware is fantastic and the amount you pay for it is more than reasonable. The shitty sales can be attributed to a lack of software, or I should say a lack of many quality, system-selling titles. The quality is there, all you have to do is play Uncharted or Gravity Daze for a taste of what we have and what's to come, but what we need more of is system selling software.

GTA, COD, The next Uncharted, God of war, Bioshock, Monster Hunter and some new IPs are all, on there own, capable of getting hundreds of thousands of people to buy the Vita, and these titles together make for a compelling and awesome library of games, leading to millions more compelled and awe-inspired Vita owners.

I don't see a problem at all right now. It's a new console with only a few months on the market and it has a very very nice lineup of games coming this year.

it's funny, i've already found as many games to enjoy on vita as i did on DS. vita has a lot of amazing games, just not a lot of popular games.

I had to say Memory Cards. The price just make me cringe and there is really no reason not to give away a 4GB card with the purchase of a Vita (call it a price drop if you want).

Its a good piece of hardware from a technical point of view, but its terribly marketed. Also, sony tries to troll us with the memory card thing.

The system does not stand a chance at this time. If it survives these first 2 years (wich means only ports of PS3 games for the most part), then it might see a drop in price and development costs later and become more interesting to the market and developers.

I obviously dont think the problem is simply just the games, but the fact the system fails to offer unique experiences and is no more than PS3 games in a small screen with worse graphics.

The more I think, the more I think they mishandled the launch.

They should have focused the launch on Gravity Rush. It would have put a lot more spotlight into a game that needs the spotlight! Really make it the star of launch. But no... they sent a unknown game to help on a period the system is suffering the most. Uncharted would be a much better "savior" for this time than it.

Let's see legs from now - on NPD - but I think GR was almost sent to die.

For japan, they mishandled too, by letting their competitor become much bigger. How? By having a drought of software that's still not over... and won't be for a while. But I think this next Game Heaven will be great - sony is not dumb, well not completely dumb - and knows the system needs a hell of a bang!
