Free Realms and Dust 514 would indicate that Sony isn't entirely against F2P, at least.

i just don't get why sony is so adamently against f2p games?!?  I mean, Motorstorm RC and treasures of montezuma blitz have already shown it can be a sucessful business model on vita.  sony should at least give f2p a chance but noooo ... bunch of greedy assholes they are.

Motorstorm RC isn't free to play. Dust 514, Free Realms, DC universe online, Killzone 3 multiplayer, Playstation Home and as you mentioned, Montezuma Blitz are all F2P, so they're becoming quite accustomed to the model.

Sounds kind of like Crytek is having difficulties in some other part of the process than the F2P portion. There is some sort of business model involved and Crytek is probably trying to get a better deal than is currently held for DLC content and are trying to play it off like these companies are against the whole concept. Microsoft is the only one that I haven't heard anything about regarding F2P. Are there exceptions? Obviously Sony does several, Nintendo might have done some and are looking into it on the Wii U. I call BS on Crytek trying to get a rise out of fans to help push an agenda. If what is going on what I think it is Crytek could be in the right, maybe they should get a better deal for their DLC in F2P games because of the way it is set up, or maybe not. Anyone else have any theories?

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Didn't Iwata say the wiiu was set up to support free to play?

Wait this is true? Source for it? If so, does that mean DQX will be free?

Personally, I don't like the F2P model. If we look at the mobile F2P games, normally we have a game that is constantly asking you to buy itens. In multiplayer games, you will simply be beaten by players that doesn't have any hability but expend more money in the game. F2P game normally don't try to be good games, they simply try to create a game that makes you buy itens all the time.

I prefer to pay once when buying a game and receive a complete product, play multiplayer matches with equal conditions and get games that were developed to be good and not to make me buy things all the time. Anyway, I'm looking forward to Dust 514. Maybe it could change my mind.

Wasn't Monster Hunter Tri free-to-play?
If I get the concept of F2P correctly then it was and that would mean Nintendo isn't against it. Right?

I could of sworn Monster Hunter Tri was originally a single player game with online multiplayer...?

It was free in America and Europe, not in japan.

It is. Isn't that what a Free-To-Play game is? I don't really know. That's why I was questioning.

I'm 100% against digital only releases and I fundamentally don't like the idea of "free to play". It's not really free and it's always multiplayer with no single player.

They are against it so much they already support it!

Monster Hunter Tri isn't free-to-play--you don't pay a monthly fee, but you are paying $50 to buy the game.

Free-to-play means games like Free Realms where you literally don't pay a cent, and if you want to you can buy in-game items or skills.

Personally, Free-to-play games annoy me, and I hope they don't become anywhere near the norm.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Maybe all three just felt Warface was a stupid game.
