I have a really hard time believing that Borderlines 2 preorders are still above BO2...

why? it will release 2 months earlier and you could preoder it like an year earlier...(no clue how long you can preoder it but very long now). when borderlands 2 will release, bo 2 will already have a lot more preoders and maybe more preoders than borderlands 2 will have first week sales and then above that the preorders will increase a lot every week.

When and why did Halo become such an icon in America?

Because it's one of the highest quality FPS (which is America's favorite genre) game franchises out there. And if you look up the definition of "fun" in the dictionary, one of the answers will be Halo.

Still waiting for a Halo 3 style marketing campaign.......

Why Halo 3? Didn't Halo Reach have bigger marketing?

In terms of cost yes Reach was reported to be bigger, in terms of coverage they seem about equal

Really???

I remember the Reach live action commercial but that was about it.

Halo 3 had the diorama, at least 5 different "believe" commercials, that District 5 Director Halo live action thing.

I honestly dont remember much to the Reach campaign aside from the main delivering the bomb commercial.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

That's funny. I remember seeing more tv ads for Reach than Halo 3. With Halo 3 all I saw on were a lot of those Mountain dew ads and maybe a handful of the "believe" ads. With Reach I remember seeing a ton of those "remember Reach" in-game trailers and the live actions ones like every time there was a commmercial break. Halo 3 did have the Superbowl ad though, but Reach had ads for the beta.

MS already started advertising Halo 4, once during the NBA finals and also in PES Euro. Should start really kicking going into Oct.

Impressed at kingdom hearts pre prders. If the upward weekly trend continues then it could end up at 150k pre orders, maybe even more if it really gets going. Would be great if this could open up to a 250k first week in the us. I am still skeptical of the pre order numbers after how off the resident evil revelations numbers were.
