Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo can never seem to satisfy fans

Every co. does it.
Nintendo has created new ips, this gen alone Disaster, Endless ocean, Xenoblade, The Wii series etc.
Just because you dont like them or even know them doesnt mean they are not there
.
Simply acusing only Nintendo of milking series is just either bias or lack of knowledge.
All devs do it.

Dude, they've already been mentioned and many more, work as a team we're all trying to understand together. Also, he represents the market Reggie & Kotaku were talking about, so his opinion is very related to OP. If he sees that Nintendo not broadening the variety within the core games (Mario, Metroid, Zelda), then adding IPs in other segments (casual in this case) does nothing to his point of view.

@Stage, @Andrew. Guys, CUT THE QUOTE TREES!!!

@Stage. My questions come first, they are more relevant to OP. That's two posts skipped now, I'm really interested in your answer.

Yap, I agree on new IPs S.T.A.G.E.

I'd still like you to answer my question on Metroid Prime and then my question on Galaxy, SS and Prime. (See my post before the one you answered).

I'd also like to know what you thought of Xenoblade (1st party) and then games like Red Steel, Silent Hill SM, the Umbrella Chronicles, MH Tri, The Conduit and other core games for the Wii. Did you play them, were you interested, why, why not, and had they been made on the PS3 (as is, plus HD twin visuals), would you have bought them?

Most of the third party core games on the Wii were ok. Would play much better with normal controls even though they have the Wiimote for other titles. I played the Conduit and Red Steel. Red Steel would be better with newer animations and better graphics. The Conduit is an interesting title but would be much better played as an RPG/FPS like Deus Ex. Second of all, where is StarFox?

As for the Metroid Prime question, I've answered it, Nintendo has gone as far as they will go with a franchise like that for now. I would like to see a fresh, HD perspective on the game, focusing on cinematics because Samus is a character who could definitely have a mature story. Mario can be fully realized by pushing the 3D realm concept that its been going on. The newest Mario looks completely uninspired and no better than what people today would buy as DLC. I keep going back to the Mario 64 days and Super Mario Sunshine days and I see something new from what I experienced, even galaxy even though I didnt like that as much. Super Smash Bro's is perfectly fine as well, that doesn't need very much work to make it great. Graphics overhaul, newer challenging levels and more moves would make the core fall for it even more so.

@S.T.A.G.E. I'm not sure your opinion is solid on Metroid. At first you said you'd get it on the PS line because it would be made in another philosophy, but then you said Metroid doesn't need correcting. I'm not sure I know where you stand on Metroid.

About the other games, I think you were happy with the exclusives, but thought they weren't of top quality in terms of the game, and would have also been better in HD. Graphics is something Nintendo can fix with WiiU. Game quality, tough call. Take ZombiU, it looks like an amazing game, but it isn't your traditional HD twin Zombi game. HD twin fans are already rejecting it, some are opening up to it. Why this reaction, I thought change was wanted. Is the change in the wrong direction? Had ZombiU been announced for another console, would it have been more interesting to such people?

Regarding Mario, I'm not sure I understand. The latest Mario you're referring to is NMSBU? So, apart from 2D Mario, what is your position on Nintendo's handling of 3D Mario and Zelda. Are these uninspired too (Galaxy, SS)?

Regarding Star Fox, I'm not sure I understand what you're asking for. At first you pushed for new IPs, but now you're pointing out that Starfox is missing. So, ultimately, do you want all these IPs and new ones too?

Lastly, if Nintendo released their regular IPs more in tune with your vision, would that lead you to buy a Nintendo console, or would you require new IPs on top of that. What comes first, getting their old IPs to your liking, or coming up with new AAA IPs first?

Thanks for satisfying my curiosity.

We got a Metroid with a story focusing on Samus as a character. It was Other M, and it was bloody terrible.

Tecmo isn't the best company to be making your games.

Mature =/= Adult themed
Burned out of Metroid after 2 games, and you sure buy EVERY Uncharted, GoW..etc? Weird

Inbetween Uncharted and GOW there is inFamous, LBP, Resistance, Killzone, Warhawk, Motorstorm, and Ratched & Clank....

It would have been a lot more if SCEJ actually put some effort into developing games this gen

If that was so the gaming war would no longer be a war.

Is not that hard to ignore Sony either
lol at those all new ips that look and play the same...

many "core" nintendo franchises play the same to me - ( mario, dk, kirby etc ) run from one side of a stage to another and jump over obstacles on the way...

try playing uncharted, little big planet and gow the same and see how far you get...
