| milkyjoe said: I'm not personally defining what handheld gaming is. I'm talking about what successful handheld gaming has been for the last 20+ years and the types of games that have been available that supported that success. There's a massive difference, and as I've just pointed out, games like Battlefield have never been part of that. Ever. So complaining that they aren't part of it now is as relevant as complaining that Mario isn't on the Vita. |
yes yes you are. So you measure what should be or shouldn't based on sales? God forbid gamers wanting games like Dark Souls then...From Software should make a COD clone on the home consoles. You really need to understand there are those who enjoy games that might not really be the best sellers but still are high quality games.
lol who complains about mario not on vita? That's a bit random
I'm telling you that there have been many games like Crisis Core, GOW, Resistance Retribution etc last gen that could have REALLY used a second stick and would have made the experience so much better. I'm currently playing Gravity Rush and the second stick is a godssend for portable gaming. With two sticks a game like Battlefield WILL work and will work great on the vita.
Let's put all personal preferences aside. having more control options is a good thing so stop trying to spin it just to defend Nintendo. 3rd party devs would really like it too if not we won't see the birth of that fugly cppro. If the system itself had the second stick and the gamers didn't have to buy an extra peripheral to play with one, more devs will surely make use of it.

^The point is not that having a 2nd nub would be bad. It should have had one from launch. It didn't... oh well.
The point is: it would be even more stupid to put one now. Alienate 20 million consumers... Great thinking guys
And the other point is that MOST 3DS games don't use it!

PW was a game built around the psp in mind, and was actually fitting for the handheld when built that way. same for BBS and 365. tekken needed a big marketing from sony to actually make it sell,TK6 underperfomed without it, and most fps, cod included, had mediocre launches and was after a bunch of pricecuts and offers that they could get good sales at a lower price. There are games on consoles fiting for handhelds, as you said mario and fighters, but in things with fps games wich are more time consuming people or fans will stick to their consoles or wait for a pricecut. |
3 mil+ MOH Heroes say your wrong. ANd the only reason why sales for COD on DS were bad, because COD on DS is kinda crap

I already addressed the bolded. Why do you think most games don't use it? Because it requires the additional peripheral for the gamers. If it was built in devs will surely make great use of it.
I can understand the alienating the crowd bit, but it's Nintendo's fault, as you said, since they didn't have one from the start. Either way you can't blame those who say they wanted a 2nd nub from this tho and you sure as hell can't say it wouldn't have benefited portable gaming, like milkyjoe is insinuating.

As i said, medicore launches, even more for holiday season, it neede a reduced price to make people actually look at them it shows how much they value this genre in handhleds over console ones. And dont come and say they are good becasue they were medicore.

Same can be said about any feature in any videogame. I think the question here is focus.
for example, can you think of this game (and a lot others) not being on the 3DS? Impossible. Devs should focus on what the system does best. Even MH invented a trick to compensate for the lack of 2nd nub and gain of a second screen. It was a mistake... yes, but there's ways of making the system shine with unique games without it.

Wrong, MOH Heroes sold well prior to any price cuts, it went the whole first year without any and did well for itself

No the issue is why blame those who want the option? Having a 2nd nub will give the developers more freedom in the way they create their games and there are many who actually prefer having such a setup as well. We are running around the issue here. Can games work without a 2nd nub? Sure, psp did so with all those years of games. It didn't even have the touch. But a 2nd nub is so much better for some games and so much more convenient. There are definitely ways to make the system shine, but with a new nub there will be even more ways. And obviously people and even the devs wanted the 2nd nub as a control option for MonHun. Because having one is ideal for such a game. Like I keep repeating, more options is never a bad thing.

it went to $20 in 2007, even after holidays it barely passed the 300k in 2006. The interest on the game layed on its online coponent. A novelty that wore off giving the big drop in sales of heroes 2.
