Forums - General - ONE SINGLE REASON Why Surface is better than the Ipad. See Inside.

I think what the OP is illustrating is that the iPad must be docked in a real computer to do many of the things people need to do. The Surface is a real computer. It's a tablet and a PC at the same time. The surface isn't limited by anything, it's a PC when you need a PC and a tablet when you want a tablet.

not knowing anything about surface, i'll tell you that is the primary reason i haven't bought an ipad yet.

Cheap sub $100 chinese tablets have usb ports and SD card slots. Apple have no excuse not to have them in their 'premium quality' products.

Yes they do. How else would they sale you an overpriced proprietary cord?

Additionally, iPhone5 is changing that proprietary cord to a new design so you all have to buy another one.

But one comes in the iphone 5 box, so unless you lose it, there's no reason to buy another.

First I shrugged this off as I hadn't thought about that. But then I realized... what about all the other accessories people have bought and used with multiple iOS products over the years? That single plug style is one reason why iProducts had so many accessories in the first place.

that's pretty funny

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Can you use the energy of the Surface for your iPad if the Surface is doing that amazing thing it did in the KEYNOTE?..What was it?Oh yeah - Freezing and not working.

The iPad is a powerful smartphone, the Surface is a toned down PC. They're both tablets, but it seems to me they have very different applications targeted at very different consumers. Microsoft have probably been quite smart in that respect.

I would buy a Surface over an iPad, it would suit my needs better. An iPad may suit someone else better. I see no need for rivalry here.

this is the main reason i have yet to get a tablet. I dont want a gimped pc in my hands, I want a real pc in my hands.

But at the same time my girlfirend has never needed to connect her samsung tablet to my pc for anything and my mom has never had to connect her kindle. So its hard to say, the tablets can a lot of stuff for a lot of people, but they aren't quit good enough for me yet. I am hoping windows 8 changes this and i can replace my desktop with a high end tablet.

Surface looks great! But what I really want is a higher then 1080p resolution. The new iPad reallly looks gorgeous.

Yeah, I dont know.

I mean, I think Ipad is all about looks not functionality. I mean, they dont even have a USB 2.0 post or even a Micro SD port.

Im really questioning the moral compass of Apple lately, you know, since every company gets a bit "Evil" when they reap up the money.

But surface is not all about looking sleek. We know that MS is a very formiddable opponent when it comes to an uphill battle. (Phone market, Gaming maret)

Yay!!!

Well, Apple just changed the power connector on their new MacBook line.  The previous power connector was compatible with the last 6 years of power supplies, and was proprietary with Apple as the sole supplier, unlike the iPod connectors.  To retain compatibility with these older supplies, you can buy a $10 adapter.  It's entirely plausible that they'll do something similar here.

There have been software reasons for old iPod accessories to become incompatible with newer iPhones/iPads.  It's not like those really affected a large number of customers, or hurt sales of the newer devices.
