Surface looks great! But what I really want is a higher then 1080p resolution. The new iPad reallly looks gorgeous.

Yeah, I dont know.

I mean, I think Ipad is all about looks not functionality. I mean, they dont even have a USB 2.0 post or even a Micro SD port.

Im really questioning the moral compass of Apple lately, you know, since every company gets a bit "Evil" when they reap up the money.

But surface is not all about looking sleek. We know that MS is a very formiddable opponent when it comes to an uphill battle. (Phone market, Gaming maret)

The inclusion of USB 3.0 is very good, does this mean I can plug in my HDD and watch .mkv files from it?

The iPad camera connection kit adds a USB port and an SD reader to any iPad.  Apparently the USB port works with any device that the OS has drivers for, such as headphones and keyboards.

Also, it's worth mentioning that iPads have been able to operate without the need for a computer for the last year already.  This is strategically important as a large part of the iPad's demographic are the people who are mystified by Windows and Mac OS X alike (I've seen many people with years of experience "using" computers but have no clue how to navigate a filesystem).

There have been times that MS has broken into a market with a dominant competitor (productivity software, console gaming, PDAs).  I wouldn't call the phone market evidence of their formidability, but maybe they've finally gotten their act together -- in the process abandoning everyone who bought into Windows Phone 7.  There are also uphill battles where Microsoft has not fared well at all (Zune vs iPod, Money vs Quicken, Live/Bing vs Google, Kin vs ???).
