Kid Icarus - Only Animal Crossing (if it comes this year) has a shot of beating it. That's saying a lot with 2 2D Marios coming.

I'm going to have to buy Uprising sooner or later. The vast majority of those who've played it have loved it. Just haven't gotten around to buying it with summer classes and two jobs.

That and Diablo III are the two games on my 2012 Wish List that I haven't purchased yet. I'm sure I'll love them both.

Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown; Complete Edition..

As far as a fighting game goes, the game is perfect. I got everything, DLC and the game for a cool 30 dollars. Turned out to be the best 3D fighter... Tekken Tag 2 reservation? Canceling it. I can't get into Tekken 6 anymore, after playing VF5:FS, and we all know TTT2 is going to use a portion of recycled content from Tekken 6. So, to me, it's not worth the 60 dollars...

For anyone that has ever wanted a balanced fighter with no come-back mechanics, and no DLC, virtua fighter 5: final showdown is there for 15 bucks.. The DLC is cosmetics, and is in no way required, unless you want to customize your characters' outfits.

So, I'll get DoA5, because I've never played a DoA game before.. It'll be almost 100% new. Where-as, Tekken tag 2, will only introduce minor character tweaks, that any patch could fix, and a very small amount of new characters. So, basically, 60 dollars for 30 new stages, a few new characters (most are on Tekken 6 already) and a tag mode.

Pass...

So, for now, it's Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown. Best fighter... I love it just as much as I love Marvel Vs. Capcom 2.

I personally am a HUGE fan of 2D fighters but never relly got into 3D ones. I have only ever played a bit of Tekken 5 back in the PS2 days as far as 3D fighters go.

I was thinking DoA might be good since I have never played anything from that franchise but the game looks very barebones in terms of mechanics when compared to other 2D fighters with intricate mechanics such as Blazblue (even SF to an extent). But perhaps 3D fighters are different in those aspects such as meters, etc. Also DoA seems like a fanservice game more with all the skimpy clothing but I am probably wrong since I don't really know much about the franchise.

Either way, now waiting for SxT to release a complete edition with all the fighters before I decide to pick it up or not, I have had enough of getting screwed by Capcom.

SFxT... a depressing waste of my money.

87 dollars wasted... I don't care how complete of a version they release, I wish I hadn't wasted my money.  I don't even about them fixing the game in october.  So what.  I skipped out on Vanilla SFIV, and both crappy versions of MvC3.  When SFxT came around... they tricked me.  I don't want any more of capcom's games... Ever... Unless there's Ruby Heart.. If I don't get Ruby Heart, I'm not buying the game.

And, it's not because Ruby Heart is my favorite character ever.  It's because Capcom's practices are so annoying, that I just can't forgive them, without a big incentive, example:  Rubye Heart.  Good thing I'll never have to worry about seeing her in Resident Evil or something..  And, I'm not talking about a small cameo, or reference, I want her as a playable character.

Now, as far as 2D and 3D fighting games goes.  I don't expect to see meters in a 3D fighter, or guard breaks/BURSTS/ or anything like that.  That's what 2D fighters are for.  I mean, look at how 3D MK games did...

They can make a 3D game with projectiles, and things, but, they have to be done right, and, side-stepping, and having the extra dimension of space makes super moves a waste for 3D fighters.

I mean.. can you imagine side-stepping a proton cannon?  Some things are just too over the top for 3D fighters..  I dont care if it's 3D or 2D.  It better be good.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2?  Sure, I'll spam like there's no tomorrow..  But, in a game, where that's not an option, like virtua fighter, I'll do things the old fashioned way.  Damaging combos, and mix-ups.

Probably Final Fantasy XIII-2, Mass Effect 3 or Diablo 3 at the moment (can't decide).
I'm currently playing Gravity Rush and I think it also has a chance to be my GOTY.

2012 - Top 3 [so far]

                                                                             #1                                       #2                                      #3

Kid Icarus: Uprising.

Mass Effect 3 currently, but i know for a fact that will change. Oh and Final Fantasy 13-2 was a close second to Mass Effect.
