True it is a poor country, but a lot of people still find chance to play WoW, so they can obviously afford some things, launching the Wii for around 720 Yuan would probably be a success |
I don't think Nintendo can launch the wii for such a low price in the near future, maybe at the end of the wii's life or 1 year into the next gen. But sales 5 years out are so hard to predict, but if they do go to china they should market it as the Super power china box and have the chinese flag on the side, It would sell alot better.

Well even it take then 3-4 years before they can do that then its fine, it'll probably be that long before they have ample supply anyways, but it'll be good, because Wii could probably go 10 years plus, so even 5 years into its lifespan it would continue to be a big seller, I don't think nintendo would mind.
Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
@ segajon
With a name like that, I don't know how you could have forgotten to add the 10m+ sales of the Dreamcast to your figure for the last generation.
@__O_o______
So very true. It amazes me how pampered 1st world kids find it so difficult to understand that most people in the world don't have money for luxuries like gaming. Not to mention the fact that China is apparently one of the few places where the Wii is not sold out (although it is admittedly only available through importers at a premium price).
I am confident this gen will experience sales of over 200m, and that they will be a lot more evenly divided across the 3 consoles than Nintendo fans would like to believe (Wii

In any case, the market will definitely expand significantly thanks largely to Wii's appeal to non-gamers. |
If a person can afford WoW, they could afford a $99 Wii, when it launches there officially
Also the Idea that Wii will end up with less than 50% of the market or Tombi's belief that PS3 will end up with 80 million in sales are massively flawed, first off PS3's sales trend put it much closer to the Xbox1 in terms of overall sales, especially since it will be reaching its peak sales in a year year and a half, Wii on the other hand, because of the virtue of its demographic will likely ride out the wave a good deal longer, especially since its currently overtracking the DS WW
And don't expect Blu-ray to save it as even with HD-DVD's impending death it will still take years for mass market adoption to occur and by then other players will be cheaper

WW LT console sales this gen?
Tough question, I'll say;
Wii: 100 million
360: 40 million
PS3: 70 million
And, for the record; don't even bother telling me how flawed my logic is Avinash, I'm so sick of you and your fanboy ranting. Always the same arguments and gloating, grow up or shut the hell up!
China and India have the potential to sell maybe a few million consoles this gen, but that's about it honestly. Most people in the countries are pretty poor by Western standards, but both have a growing middle classes, that are starting to buy luxuries like electronics. The HD consoles are probably too expensive to ever sell a notable amount, but the Wii and DS might be somewhat succesful, especially by the time they drop to 100€ or below.
I expect them to become more relevant to the console war by next gen, and the one after that.

Its the same arguments because the same arguments remain true, PS3 is tracking below the PSP in every major market, its attach rates in japan mirror the PSP, and Sony seems intent on pushing it primarily as a blu-ray player, considering the PSP will likely top out around 40 there is no reason to believe PS3 will fare any better, in fact it is likely to stall out earlier.
Wii on the other hand is overtracking the DS WW, and considing the DS will likely surpass the PS2 , its unlikely that Wii will not
