With a name like that, I don't know how you could have forgotten to add the 10m+ sales of the Dreamcast to your figure for the last generation.

So very true. It amazes me how pampered 1st world kids find it so difficult to understand that most people in the world don't have money for luxuries like gaming. Not to mention the fact that China is apparently one of the few places where the Wii is not sold out (although it is admittedly only available through importers at a premium price).

I am confident this gen will experience sales of over 200m, and that they will be a lot more evenly divided across the 3 consoles than Nintendo fans would like to believe (Wii < 50%). In any case, the market will definitely expand significantly thanks largely to Wii's appeal to non-gamers.

If a person can afford WoW, they could afford a $99 Wii, when it launches there officially

Also the Idea that Wii will end up with less than 50% of the market or Tombi's belief that PS3 will end up with 80 million in sales are massively flawed, first off PS3's sales trend put it much closer to the Xbox1 in terms of overall sales, especially since it will be reaching its peak sales in a year year and a half, Wii on the other hand, because of the virtue of its demographic will likely ride out the wave a good deal longer, especially since its currently overtracking the DS WW

And don't expect Blu-ray to save it as even with HD-DVD's impending death it will still take years for mass market adoption to occur and by then other players will be cheaper

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
