The GamePad controller looks neat, though i have doubts about it effectively replacing the Wiimote/Nunchuk combo. Early games look good, as the NSMB formula takes steps towards the Super Mario World ideal (how close remains to be seen), Pikmin which for me is neither here nor there, but should be good to pick up. More needs to be revealed...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
Nintendo have never made a cosole that has disappointed me. I will buy this day one. (hopefully)

Never played on one. I did hear they were awful and gave everyone super bad headaches. If I had of played on one Im sure my comment would of been different. Lol
So far so good, Ill get it that´s for sure. Im just waiting for a surprise, to see if Ill get it this year, or until the 2013.

For some reason, I have serious faith on the Tokyo game show on Septemeber, they will announce something cool, or at least explain the console into further detail.
Day one for me without a doubt. I just really hope the console is $299; it would move a lot of units very quickly.

Id bet my money on OCt, in that fall conference they always do. On TGS I expect some 3rd party games, but focus on popular franchises in Japan. Then in OCtober i have a feeling, they will show something no one is expecting...

I am sure the first-party games will come, and I will be buying one when they do. The concept of the console is pretty cool, and although I have some reservations (30 minute moderated chat, lack of online multiplayer modes in their franchises (see Pikmin 3)), I can see these things being improved with time. So yes. Looking good, will get one day. |
I think you understood this part wrong. The chat is not moderated, the asynchronic message are. Have you played Demon's Souls? or maybe Dark Souls? In that game you can leave messages in the floor to warn other players about the perils ahead ("Beware of ambush", "next enemy weakness is spells", and so on), you can do the same in the Wii U, but the message will not be restricted to the options given by the game, so you can put literally anything, including bad words and big, HUGE spoilers. Those messages are going to be moderated by Nintendo employees so the experience is not ruined for other players.
I suposse chat (or video chat) will be restricted to friends to avoid other kind of problems like indecent behavior, but the basic online multiplayer will be available to all.
The asynchronous options will be pushed a lot in NSMBU, but you are right about the lack of online play in the launch titles. NintendoLand and NSMBU could benefit a lot from it, pikmin 3 not so sure.
I have owned every Nintendo console starting with the NES, and that's not about to change now! I am impressed with what little I know about it so far, and I can't wait till some first party games actually show what the system is capable of! NOW "U" ARE PLAYING WITH POWER! Sorry, I couldn't resist!
"Games are a trigger for adults to again become primitive, primal, as a way of thinking and remembering. An adult is a child who has more ethics and morals, that's all. When I am a child, creating, I am not creating a game. I am in the game. The game is not for children, it is for me. It is for an adult who still has a character of a child."
