Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Working on successor of 3DS no Revision being made

Seriously, Nintendo does not nore have they ever given to rumors to my knowledge.e Why do people keep begging them? Nintendo, does not talk about anything new until it is officially announced. They do not divulge system specs. They do not cater to individual demands of gamers.

All of these speculations are silly and almost always wrong.

There is no way on God's green earth that Nintendo is not going to make an upgraded 3DS. It is going to happen! Hopefully it hits Christmas 2012.

No way in hell is there even a slight chance of that happening in 2012 with the launch of the Wii U.

A revision might come, but it wont come until sales slow down, wich might very well only be just in 2014.

The DS Lite came out in the same year that the Wii launched, so it is very possible. Also why sales are still decent, they have slowed down from where they used to be.

Not a chance for christmas 2012. I think they will show off a new 3ds at next years e3. Releasing one this soon would be yet another kick in the balls to the chumps like me who forked out £220 for a release day version.

Well, the latest news stories suggest that Nintendo isn't working on a redesign, but in fact is working on the next system: http://news.cnet.com/8301-10797_3-57452328-235/miyamoto-were-on-to-the-3ds-successor/

But if you look back to the first rumors of a redesign way back when: http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/23/rumor-nintendo-working-on-3ds-redesign-10-joystick-add-on/

They said back then that there would likely be a name change and that the 3D would be downplayed. Well, this would be exactly the same thing as a "next system". So I think these are one and the same rumor, and it all makes sense. The redesign is the new system. I would say that the new system would probably be able to play DS and 3DS games as well as cartridges that are expanded for the new system. I would suspect that the functionality of the system would be expanded with more apps etc.

Good. I'm sure Ryans mad but in my opinion they didn't need a redesign a YEAR after the original came out. Summer next year would be the best time.

They'll make a redesign sooner or later. Probably later. Probably late 2013 or 2014.

Aside from the battery life, I'm unsure what revisions would add on the 3DS.

So probably the right choice. Maybe add a version with a second analogue nub with the MH4 launch, and extra battery life, but nothing else.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Second circle-pad. Better select/start/home buttons (make the actual buttons instead of what they are), make the hinge less floppy, make the 3D viewing range better?

Yes, and the DS was out for 2 years at the time, wich isnt the case with the 3DS.

Face it, the chances of a redesign this year are zero. There just isnt any need for them to do it. And what you're calling slowed down sales are going at the same pace or better than the PS3 and completely insane in Japan. No, it isnt slowing down yet.
