It's pretty sad to see time after time that every single person apart from casuals (this includes Nintendo) keeps assuming that the casual buyers are stupid.

No, a wider range of controller options will not stop people from buying the console. If anything, it will make them happy that they may not have to buy lots of controllers for multiplayer.

not so much stupid, but ignorant and not in the know, there are some people out there in the world that are like that when it comes to these kinds of things. How much of them are there, I dont know

Lets look at this critically

mario U, wii fit U, just dance, should be million sellers

then you have scribblenauts, rayman , p 100, tekken tag 2, AC 3 and more

nintendo has never had this strong of a linup

Once upon a time they did, but times have definitely changed. These are good titles for sure, but they're not exclusives (except p100) and don't have any noticable features to set them apart from the other versions. Or more specifically, if you didn't but it the first time, to get this one at full price when the PS3/360/PC versions are half price (and in Arkham City's case, those look to be the better versions graphically).

Why do you think WiiU will fail? Just because "hardcore gamers" arent buying it? ( not true)
There are 250m potential users...50m easy
most casuals are going to buy it, because believe it or not they liked the Wii...

Like most casual users liked the DS and were going to buy the 3DS at launch?
Or how most casuals liked the PS2 so much they were all going to get a PS3 in a heartbeat?

Don't count the casuals in so quickly.

I think many are forgetting that Dragon Quest X will be on Wiii U and we all know how well it doses in Japan^^

This is very true, but its also on the Wii and crucially, that's virtually the only thing we know about it :/

I have a feeling the Wii U will have gamecube like sales.

i 100% agree and see this a possibly a big problem for the wii U.  i really want to know exactly what comes in the box with the wii U.

being BC with the wii is a good start but if the wii U doesn't have at least 1 wii mote can devs make a game assuming everyone will have one?

if not, how hard will it be for devs to support the various optional configurations?

if not supporting all possible configuration, how much confusion will it 'cause customers to explain what extra are required to play?

...i've seen moms at the store unable to figure out why mario isn't on playstation or why gran turismo isn't on xbox ect.  if they can't even keep that straight how hard will it be to keep all the various controller options straight? how made will they be to come home with a game they can't play?

This is a valid concern indeed. My guess is yes, one Wiimote+, one Nunchuk, and one U-Pad, with the Pro Controller being only independently sold.

i think that sounds ideal but i'll give it only 50/50 that's what we get.  i'm pretty sure nintendo wants to keep costs low.   i'm not sure exactly what a wiimote and nunchuck cost nintendo (not $60 for sure) but it isn't free and something i can see possibly getting cut.

stupid?

there are a lot of options here.  it's not a matter of intelligence but rather education.  the casual market wasn't watching nintnedo direct.  they don't watch E3 streams.  they don't go to vgchartz or ign or whatever to inform themselves.  but they - like you already are - need to be educated.  it is now nintendo's job to properly market and explain the wii U.  the lots of controller options and configuration simply make the message more complex, more difficult to get out in a 30 second commercial, and more likely to not be understood by those who don't go out of there way to inform themselves.

I call an avatar bet!

When the Wii U hits the N64's end of life sales, I get control over your avatar for 2 months (note I went with N64 instead of GC because 'GC like' does not mean 'exactly the same as GC sales'

If the Wii U meets any of the following conditions, you get control of my avatar for 6 months

Condition 1 - The Wii U is discontinued, having sold less than the N64

Condition 2 - The Wii U drops below an average yearly sales rate of N64 lifetime sales divided by 5 in any year (and it has not already passed the N64 in sales), and this cannot be attributed to supply constraints, or the fact that it has not been released in all three major regions yet.

Condition 3 - I agree at any time that the Wii U will not overtake the N64.

Sound fair?

'Feelings' don't holdup in court...I have a feeling wii u will be the greatest console of alltime both in terms of quality titles and system sales. I have a feeling it's lifetime sales will be double that of the combined sales of every single console on the market ever in the history of video games times 3.

I also have a feeling the wii u will become the first videogame console to win a nobel peace prize and will eventually become the president of the usa.
