Forums - General - One thing Obama won't change

i'm not a obama supporter, but in terms of foreign policy, i think he, being raised not in the united states but indonesia, does see things differently than most established US politicians. so regarding foreign policies i tend to think he represents america's best chance.

Hmm... I wonder why the US would remain loyal to a country that supports us amid an entire region of the world that hates us...

The Board is the best site on the Internet.

@lanceuppercut -- the rest of the region hate us because we support Israel so blindly. If we actually forced them to follow international law, maybe just maybe the majority of that region wouldn't hate us.

One thing I hate is when someone says they don't support Israel, and people can turn around and call you anti-semitic.

I know... Maybe people who don't support/condone Israeli actions have a lower threshold for cruelty and a higher threshold for foreign politics?

Where is that our job? Shouldn't the UN do something?

The UN can't do anything when one of the Big Five doesn't want it to. And don't pretend that isn't the way you like it. The US is so miserly with its own sovereignty that it won't even sign a ban on landmines (completely indescriminant weapons) and generally disregards treaties that it has signed whenever it's no longer convenient to observe them.

Say. I've yet to read this topic... but is anyone else wondering how much this site is going to look like a freakin CNN message board by the time the US elections really get into swing?

Support Hamas? Hamas is the problem. Had Hamas not existed there might of been a peace worked out already.  No western country, EU and Canada included are going to be that willing to help Hamas in any way.

There is a reason why Hamas is listed as a terrorist group in these places.  How many people are going to work with people listed as terrorists?

One of the Big 5? You know the Europeon Union is Pro Israel as well right?  I wouldn't start a US bitch fest here.  If we stopped supporting them another country would likely pick up the slack.  Or a combination of them.  It's not like the other 4 with veto power don't support some pretty ridiculious bills as well.
