Digital Foundry vs. Halo 4: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-vs-halo-4

"In an era where the likes of Naughty Dog and Sony Santa Monica have defined the graphical state-of-the-art with Uncharted and God of War, Xbox 360 finally has its own shot at the title - and it's a genuinely worthwhile, lavish and occasionally even breathtaking experience."

Just finished reading the whole thing. I was pretty impressed with the ingenuity of their shadow implementation to have greatly detailed, crisp looking shadows on hardware incapable of doing the processing completely accurately from a mathematical point of view.

Great read as is usually the case with DF, I'm happy to hear that they are impressed with what 343i delivered, most certainly gives me hope for Halo 5.

My initial impressions.

1. This is the game I have been waiting for since Halo 4. By far the best Halo and best FPS I have played so far.

2. Graphics are INSANE. Very close to the best I've ever seen on any console, I honestly didn't think the 360 was capable of this amount of graphical and technical detail. Environments are huge and the draw distance is breathtaking. Also the facial animations are the best I have ever seen.

3. Multiplayer is the best I have ever played by far. Even when I get owned I am having fun. Everything blends together so perfectly and it takes the best of COD and the best of Halo to form the most excellent multiplayer I've ever played. Only gripes are the AR and SAW are a bit overpowered (especially the SAW).

4. I'm only on the first mission in campaign but so far it's also the best campaign I've ever played. Shows a human side of Master Chief and Cortana that I never thought I would see. Perfect blend of action, cinematic, and excellently crafted story.

I haven't played Spartan Ops or Forge or messed around with theater.

So overall impressions is that this game is AMAZING! Game of the year and of all time for me.

Although I was watching for numbers of people online and it looks like it is less than Halo: Reach's first day (the maximum amount of people I saw was about less than 250k people online playing MP) :/ I hope the word of mouth really carries the game.

@yo_john117: Servers were playing up most of the day yesterday, also people are waiting on Amazon GameStop and few other places to deliver the goods.

Yeah I did hear about that. Didn't know it was that big of a problem though.

Play Halo 4 multiplayer a whole lot, get free Microsoft Points

Xbox Live Rewards is offering free Microsoft Points to players who plunge their lives into Halo 4 multiplayer. There's a maximum 800 MSP up for grabs, 600 of it for playing 140-plus hours of Halo 4 multiplayer, and 200 for spending at least 3000 MSP on Halo Marketplace content. The catch? You've got until November 30 to put in the time.

If you like freebies but don't like the idea of a whole month playing one game's multiplayer, the good news is you get 300 MSP for playing 70 hours, and 100 MSP for 35 hours. And if you only have 1500 MSP spare for Halo stuff this month, you still get 100 MSP back. You should note Microsoft says there's a maximum total of 10 million MSP on offer across all players, and they'll be doled out on a "first-come, first-serve basis."

FYI, clocking in 140 hours of Halo 4 mulitplayer by the end of the month equates to just under six hours each day. That's roughly a third of your waking life in November. To put that in persp... what's that? Oh, right. See you in December, then.

Digital Foundry

Technologically speaking, Halo 4 doesn't put a foot wrong throughout the entire eight to nine hour campaign. The enhancements to modelling, lighting and environments are beautiful and play host to some of the most epic gunplay we've experienced on a home console title. Perhaps this is not surprising bearing in mind that the 343i tech team had the know-how and the time to push the 360 hardware further and harder than any other developer we're aware of. Factor in how key 343i staff contributed to the development of DirectX 11 (and almost certainly, the genesis of the next-gen Xbox) and we have some idea of the spectrum of talent Microsoft put to work here.

In an era where the likes of Naughty Dog and Sony Santa Monica have defined the graphical state-of-the-art with Uncharted and God of War, Xbox 360 finally has its own shot at the title - and it's a genuinely worthwhile, lavish and occasionally even breathtaking experience.

I have been waiting a LONG time for my BR to come back lol. Although ironically the BR is a bit weak compared to the Carbine and DMR.

Does anyone know any possible way that you could find good custom games friends? All my friends are either die hard PS3 fans or they hate Halo.

So if anyone got any suggestion it would be welcomed or we could simply make a Group for this thread's all halo online players.
