Many of my friends cite the internet browser and free online as the reason they got a PS3 over an Xbox 360, so the point is valid.



My prediction threads:

Wii U will sell under 40m units (made on 14th September 2012)

PS Vita will sell under 20m units (made on 30th September 2012)

Wii U will sell under 7m in 2013 - I was right

Halo 4 first 9 weeks sales prediction

PS4 to be down YOY in 2015

I don't know if you are joking or not regarding the bolded bit. Exactly how MS could push Japan any further than they have already tried is beyond me and probably MS.

And that you adding the word "easily" means that you are indeed joking or have no idea what you are talking about. You have no idea of how hard MS has tried to crack Japan.

OT: Nothing wrong with a bit of speculation. Anything is possible.

I doubt it will happen and personally I believe all nextgen consoles will sell a whole lot less than this gens but.. who knows. Let time be the judge.

 


Easily was more in reference to the european market. Japan doesn't count for a big portion of home console sales. So i still see xbox winning the next generation.

Then that would make more sense but Japan shouldn't even be mentioned in my opinion.

However Europe could prove to be just as stubborn as Japan. I am not saying it will be but don't take it as a given.

I remember years ago many MS fans raving about "with MS financial muscle Japan shoud be no problem with x360".

Giving it more thought I think the OP has a valid argument but not for many of the reasons he or she pointed out.

Come to think of it I believe mainland Europe could become less important as a market as the economy shrinks and the trend for parents to get  kids more competitive in education and other life skills rise.

This gives the x720 the perfect conditions to significantly outsell the competition just in it's dominant markets N.America, Uk etc.

Let's see what happens.

I would say its more likely that the next gen consoles will struggle to out sell their predecessors.

cool you know his friends? great, which one do you like most? fixing the post of someone else speaking about the reason why HIS friends bought a ps3 instead of a 360 is a f.... joke.  if they only bought a console to play football games (as example because this is very common in europe) it can be easily the reason to buy the ps3 instead of the 360.

a friend of mine did it as well, he wanted a console and doesn't need a pc but he wanted to surf on the internet sometimes so he bought the ps3.  sure this is only important for few people but there are people who decided to purchase a ps3 instead of a 360 because of that.

some people buy a console only for one game, hell some japanese bought a 360 for the resident evil demo in dragon's dogma^^ and some bought a ps3 because they can surf on the internet with that and don't need a pc then (but it's not as important as man-bear said, maybe for 1 of 500 ps3 customers)

I don't know why, it's possibly one of the worst browsers in the entire world. You buy a Mac for browsing, not a PS3.

ninpie, only you buy a mac with 8 years to surf on the internet. but you will drive a ferrari with 20 so you can't see this as standard lol
